Is anyone reloading the new steel cased stuff from Winchester? I've got a few laying around and thought I might give it a try, but wanted to ask around first.

I wouldn't dream of it, but I've read several others say they reload steel cases just fine. Seems like sacrilege to me.

My dad has reloaded plenty of steel cased ammo in the 223 variety.

No special dies required? Are people lubricating the cases or anything?

Standard or carbide (my preference) moderate tumbling in corn media, lube and load. You may have to do a slight chamfer for the primer.
FWIW: ANY boxer primed steel case is reloadable. The 223 requires no trimming. However it's always beneficial to check everything when reloading.

Requires no trimming? They don't stretch in the chamber or when resized?
If that's the case I'll quit throwing away steel cases I find.

Always check as with any item you reload. The wolf 223 stays consistent.

I thought the steel cased stuff was for people with bad backs who don't want to pick up their brass? Why would anyone want to reload it?

How do you keep the loaded cases from rusting. Other then shooting them[hahhah-no]

Always lube every case, even brass pistol in carbide. It makes life much much easier.

Hmm, I've never lubed any pistol rounds. Might have to try it.

It makes a noticeable difference. After loaded, a 5 minute run in corn cob media. Shoot then repeat. You may need to swage the primer pocket.

I'm not sure that I want to put my dies through the pain of steel cases. I won't do it unless anyone is willing to loan me their dies to do it.

They're actually polymer coated. Lube as any other case and go to town. FWIW: I've encountered more resistance from a 5.56 brass than steel case wolf. YMMV

$20 gets you a set of carbide dies.

0 fucks to give.

This stuff isn't VG10. It's deliberately shitty steel we're talking about.
