Rag with bleach, add 1 - 2 tsp ammonia and stay away for an hour or so.
Or for the faint of heart, run a flex hose from your tail pipe.
A 6ft length of paracord with a slipknot loop slightly smaller than the hole, hung right in front will get you good results. Tie the other end to something solid like a fence post.
One bag of sakrete and some water ought to take care of that.

That looks more like a rabbit hole, something else went after. Up here they breed like.......rabbits.
The up side is the proliferation of Owls, hawks and eagles sitting in the trees and phone poles in the alleys. Had a nice red tail chowing down on one last week. That cliche Fur was flying. He/ She? was dropping hide like confetti.

Neighbor caught and relocated a skunk without getting sprayed last week, so I hope it is not another one. The rabbits on the east side of Wheat Ridge have increased exponentially since they started developing all the abandoned greenhouse properties and drove all the red fox out of the area. I have I grown up here and do not ever remember seeing a rabbit until last year in this area. I really hope it is a rabbit.

You don't want to kill it under the shed, it will smell worse than a skunk in a couple of days.
Couple of smoke bombs and then double tap to head when it comes out.

Had some foxes make a den under my shed and it looked about like that. They would steal dog toys and leave them in my backyard. Once they killed a kitten and just left it on the ground. Any new dog toys or cats lying around?

No, if its a skunk then grenades are the answer.
I advise looking up remedies for getting skunk chemical weapons off dogs immediately.
We had skunks at the house I grew up at. DOW brought us a bottle of something to euthanize them with. We caught 17 one summer.
10 foot 1/2" conduit, 10 foot 3/8" dowel, duct tape, syringe and a bottle of stuff form the vet to euthanize them.
Set a live trap with cat food. When trapped, their tail can't go up so they can't really spray you. Use the "10 foot pole" to inject them.
To ward of the folks who will come along and say that is not legal: https://cpw.state.co.us/Documents/WildlifeSpecies/LivingWithWildlife/NuisanceWildlife.pdf

Talking with the neighbors, one has captured and relocated a skunk this year and another has seen a younger one. We must have quite the family moving into the area.
You really need to "front load" your response. A little effort at this point is worth a TON of effort later.
I'm picturing a scene from Caddyshack....

Your bait must not be very enticing. None of those critters looked smarter than the trap, except for the cat maybe.
Skunk season starts Nov 1st.

Take your bait and put it into a wire box that you can secure to the top, back of your trap. The animal will have to go all the way into the trap, and will trip the door while they're tying to figure out why they can't just pull the bait off the ceiling.

Ive done that but secured to the bottom, I will try the top as well.
I have caught two skunks so thankfully my bait worked on the primary animal I was concerned with. Now I need to figure out something the raccoons are more interested in and figure out if I need a larger trap to get them to go inside.

No I mean that small game season for spotted and striped skunks starts on Nov 1st. I have one in mind that I'm considering hunting after that date. I wonder how much a full mount on a skunk would cost.

Before you take too much time looking into that, you can't legally do so (with a gun or bow) where you live. Not that I know of anyway. I'm not sure when the trapping season is.
When I lived in the Springs, I trapped 27 coons, 12 skunks, and 2 foxes in a 4 year period. I always used a similar trap to yours with a dish of dry cat food. I kept it uncovered except for a 35lb weight on top to keep the coons from dragging it around. Trap size and location didn't seem to matter - I had one bore coon that barely fit in the trap - couldn't turn around. He did manage to roll it 60 feet across the backyard, and popped several welded wires, but it held him. I tried tuna fish at first, but our cat kept getting trapped - he didn't mind spending the night in the trap for a can of tuna.
I slapped together a plywood box to place over the trap for when I got skunks inside. It was just bigger than the trap, open on one end for releasing them back out the door, and open on the bottom for slipping it over the top of the trap. I cut out a hole in the top of the box for the trap handle. If I was slow and careful slipping it over a skunk, they usually did not spray. If they did, it was contained and they had to marinate in it until I released them. I'd just leave the box outside to air out.
You will not likely get rid of all the critters - new ones will just move into the territory. Best of luck.
Understood, I REALLY hate to admit it but that had not even crossed my mind, I will have to look into it.
A large garbage can full of water - large enough to completely submerge your trap, is the easiest way to dispatch a critter.

Get rid of those trash pandas and the stink weasel with a Conibear 330 trap. Nothing will escape and it's instant dispatch. That is of course there is no risk of a domestic animal getting into it. Nothing will survive it's grasp.

I set traps in Elizabeth for the squirrels getting into the roof.
I caught a skunk one night when I forgot to close the trap at dark.
I then learned that Colorado does not allow you to release a striped skunk due to the threat of rabies.
Cost me $50 to have a skunk killer come and get the little critter:
"Colorado allows you to trap skunks in live traps using peanut butter, eggs, sardines or cat food.
Check traps daily and destroy striped skunks, as the state prohibits moving them due to rabies risk.
You may relocate spotted and hog-nose skunks with a permit.
Skunks also may be shot in rural areas."

I think he had a notice posted at the local Safeway.
He used the exhaust from his truck to finish the striped skunk, tuned up my trap and showed me a couple of tricks to make it more stable.
He then disappeared down the road with the skunk in the plastic bag he had used with the exhaust.
He was friendly, informative, and took care of the problem.
I am careful to close the trap before dark.
