View Full Version : Flight for Life Heli stuck on Childrens
Apparently a Flight for Life heli has broken down on top of Children's Hospital. The first crane they brought out wasn't tall enough, so I'm not sure what they are going to do now.
That's not good

Good thing it died after they landed.
Did they opt for a crane before a heli mechanic?

Not sure I work next door so I'm just seeing the action. I wouldn't want to launch a newly fixed heli off of a 10 story building.

Do like we did on the carrier, push it over the side.

Not much to see. But imagine a broken helicopter on top of a building. When I left it looked like they had given up for the day.

What color helicopter should I imagine? I saw a Flight for life helicopter on a roof parked. Did it look similar to that?

hmm thought it might be something exciting.

Not Flights, it was Airlink out of Scottsbluff, NE. Airlink is also the helicopter service out of Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.
9News is still saying it is a Flight for Life helicopter when the video clearly show it as Airlink. Not every helicopter is Flight for Life. I am sure Flights likes it when the media assumes every helicopter is "Flight for Life", except when it is busted on the roof of a hospital.
In Colorado we have:
AirLife - Lone Tree, Hugo, Fredrick-Firestone, and Cheyenne
AirLink - Loveland
Classic Lifeguard - Steamboat Springs
REACH29 - Buena Vista
Flight for Life - Denver, Summit, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Durango
Memorial Star - Colorado Springs
Northern Colorado Medevac - Boulder, Greeley, Akron
St. Mary's Careflight - Grand Junction
Care Connect - La Junta
That's 17 Rotor Wing Air Medical Resources in the State of Colorado and one in Cheyenne that flies into Colorado. There are a handful that fly from New Mexico and Utah into Colorado as well.

Clearly, fly fishing.

Which is the green one that is usually sitting next to I-25 near Loveland, Airlink?

The light green helicopters are AirLife Denver.
I am a former AirLink pilot from Scottsbluff, NE and have flown that helicopter many times. There are some bad places to have a malfunction, Children's Hospital in Denver has to be one of the worst.

All natural bait, large worms

I gotta think that "anywhere airborne" outstrips the roof of Children's as a bad place to have a malfunction... [ROFL1]

Not really. Many malfunctions result in just landing the helicopter, either immediately or at a nearby airport. If it breaks on a rooftop helipad, it is stuck there until fixed or moved, as seen in the picture.
Bet it was just out of gas.
Fixed wing pilots take off and cruise. Rotary wing pilots take off and immediately begin looking for places to land.

Tri-state also serves Colorado (if I got the name right). Wifey got a ride once. Not sure where their helicopter is out of, has to be Western Co b/c the fast turnaround. I never knew it wasn't St. Mary's careflight until after the fact. Some people are born clumsy, the type that would trip into a stream 5 feet from a waterfall. Other people marry that kind of clumsy.
But I know you're list doesn't really consider the "rest" of Colorado, ya know, the red-headed step children. [mop] [Flower]
Tristate CareFlight flies out of Taos, NM and Santa Fe, NM.
TriState Careflight (now owned by AirMethods) flies out of Raton-my older son is a flight medic with the company and is based there. They handle SW Colorado, N New Mexico, E Utah.
