Hello guys!

I just moved to CO from MS this month. It has been a great change so far(no humidity). I am looking forward to having 4 real seasons! I'm currently living in Lafayette which seems to be a pretty nice town. I've been looking around for a place and people to shoot with. It looks like Colorado Rifle Club is the closest place that is most active.

In the past year or two I've been getting into Steel Challenge and USPSA. My old range was slowly introducing some 3 gun and practical carbine matches too, these matches were a blast! Some of my best friends in MS were from shooting matches and since I don't know a single person up here besides my wife, I can't wait to start hitting some matches up and meet more people.

Looks like I need to start loading some ammo!

You forgot pothole season. That usually falls between winter and construction. And some years construction season doesn't happen so you just get more winter and more potholes.

Welcome, Kevin.

Oh, and just to let you know, Colorado Rifle Club is probably about an hour and a half drive from Lafayette. Maybe more. On a good day.

Hey Kevin,

Welcome! I'm 10 minutes away in Boulder. There's a pretty good local scene with regards to competitive shooting, but I suspect back home in MS might have been better. Here's the skinny:

Check out www.ecouspsa.com (http://www.ecouspsa.com) for a schedule of every monthly match held in our region. The closest ranges are: Boulder Rifle Club is right here, Aurora is about 1 hour away, and Clear Creek is about the same (but they are IDPA only). Everything else is closer to 2 hours. Boulder also hosts a couple other matches each month (Defensive Pistol, Cowboy, etc). FYI, Boulder Rifle Club has a 10-15 year wait list to join as a member, but all matches are open to the public. The closest "open" range is Go Shoot Indoors! in Broomfield - only about 15 minutes from you. Their hourly charge is high, but you can become a member for $30-$50/month which includes unlimited shooting. They also do a Steel Challenge match every so often - check their website for details.

Hope to meet you at a match in the near future. I try to get out for live fire practice at GSI around once per week and run some drills.

Well I haven't been here long but so far your roads are far better than 90% of the ones in MS.

I drove out to Colorado Rifle club just to see how the drive was and your right it was about 80 minutes away. Guess that means i'll have to make the drive worth it!

Thanks for the info! It really sucks that the range in boulder has such a long wait. There is obviously a demand for quality outdoor ranges. Once I get settled in and get some ammo made I want to try a few of the different matches that are around and maybe try some new things.

I will have to go check out GSI that seems like it will be my best option to get a quick fix during the week. Let me know if you have any particular time you like to go and I'll see if I can meet up with you!

Kevin, you can join BRC as a lite member and then you can pay member rates at the matches and get their news letter.
