Finally finished up this build, and I couldn't be happier. After picking up my .300 weatherby build from Mark Chanlynn, we got to talking about my next ar build and he talked me into the 6x45. I haven't had it to the range yet but I'm pretty excited after seeing some proof targets and talking to Mark about this little cartridge.

For this build I went with a
Wilson Combat billet upper and lower
Magpul UBR buttstock
JP MKIII signature extra long hand gaurd
Nickel boron bolt carrier
JP silent capture buffer
Seekins for all the small parts
A Mark Chanlynn 24" stainless fluted barrel.
Topped with a Nightforce SHV 4-14x50 F1

I had it all Cerakoted OD green for something different.

Unfortunately I've been so busy with everything since the rifle was built I haven't had time to sit at the bench and really shot for groups. My smith gave me his load recipe so I loaded that up zeroed the rifle at 200 yards and started using it. I've had it out on coyotes and prairie dogs a few times and it does great. Drops coyotes like a bad habit and is crazy accurate on p-dogs. My longest kill was at 516 yards. I was hoping to get to the range before antelope season and work with it some more but it's looking like I may have to cancel that hunt anyway.

Which powder are you using? I had my best groups with AA2015BR and a sierra 60 grain HP. This is a powder favorite from Mike Milli aka Dtech of off caliber AR fame. I believe this was also an older bench rest load which has was used for winning quite a few competition. I have some loads that shoot well, but I have not found any load that shoots poorly out of these rifles. H335 is also used in my hunting loads but is a bit dirtier.

I'm running 85 gr. Sierra GMK's with H-335. Mark Chanlynn used that load in is benchrest and Ar's back in that day to stack trophy's. He said you have to try hard to find a load that doesn't shoot well in this cartridge. I'm hoping to use it antelope hunting if I get time to go.

Good luck, I've used mine before....I just don't understand why this little cartridge didn't become more popular. It does everything the 223 does, but better and more for the exact same costs.
