I'm sure many of you remember the case two years ago where an instructor gave a 9-year-old girl an Uzi, loaded it with multiple rounds, set it to auto, and let her shoot, only to have the recoil throw the gun up where she hit and killed the instructor. Well, his family has now sued the range, saying allowing this created an "unreasonably dangerous and unsafe environment."

...Well, yeah, I agree that it was unsafe, but he was the friggin' instructor, it was his responsibility! I'm sorry he died, but he should have been the responsible one there.

Thankfully, if nothing else, they're not suing the girl nor her family, thinking she's gone through enough.

I'm seriously thinking about suing every one of you guys. Not sure what my claim will be (emotional distress and hurt feelings?) but I'm sure when my lawyer hears that firearms were likely involved I'm sure he'll take the case.

Well there goes any sympathy I had for his family.

The instructor screwed up, he's at fault and he paid the ultimate price. Its unfortunate, but his family deserves nothing from the range or anyone else.

Seems to me that some ambulance chaser has stoked the flames of greed in these people for his own benefit. Shakespeare was right.

If anything, the range should have held the instructor's estate responsible for any damages they suffered to their reputation and trade as a result of his negligence. Of course, that would be viewed as callous so they wouldn't do it but this lawsuit is ridiculous. The instructor was 100% responsible for overseeing the girl and setting safety rules. I don't know if he gave any thought to her ability to control it but he failed if he did think about it.

Welcome to a society where EVERYTHING is SOMEBODY else's fault.

They should be suing the person responsible, but he's...ya know...dead.
