Arvada Pistol and Rifle Club --> http://www.arpcinc.com/

This range just started an Action Pistol match, which is basically IDPA rules as far as I can tell. The match is on the fourth Sunday of each month. This is an indoor match with four stages. This match just started and was mostly members, as it just recently was opened to the public. $15 for member, $20 for non-members. Set-up is at 7am, new shooters meeting and registration at 8am, first shots at 9am. You pre-register online, and their website says that they are capping at 20 shooters. I called and inquired and the lady who answered advised that the cap was currently not enforced. There were four stages on two berms and two squads. Once each squad shot each of the first two stages, they rearrange to create the next two stages. Participation is very helpful here. The match was well run and did a good job of being challenging enough to make you think.

A couple of us shot the match today and had fun. It was nice to see the regulars and some newer shooters as well. Due to the indoor nature of the match, the 180 rules is more like a 90 rule so muzzle control needs to be taken seriously. Nice shooting with everyone.

Haha, I was doing pretty well, but I screwed up the last stage more than I knew was possible, to the tune of 40 points down. I had my brother shoot my M&P40c and he had all kinds of problems so he didn't beat me for once.

I'm assuming since this is an indoor facility they will have matches throughout the winter. I might have to try to make some of those. The wife and I don't ride the motorcycles much in the winter so my Sunday's will be a little more open.

Are you able to make any bowling pin matches? Bristlecone runs a 5pm and a 7pm on Monday nights, and I think Shoot Indoors in Broomfield switched their pin match to every other Tuesday. Pin matches are a good time because you can refine your technique since it's the exact same every time and there is no movement, but the heads up nature of the match keeps it fun (imo).

My main problem with week day matches is I usually don't get home before six. Broomfield might be doable but I don't think I could make it down to Bristlecone.

That was my issue as well. Most of the weekly matches I shot were on the rare times I had that day off.

[panic] WHAT ??????????????? [panic]

Cooler weather and winter, barring any ice on the ground was our favorite time to ride. Nothing like a 20 deg Christmas or New Years day to twist the throttle.

80+ with a 20-30 deg air temp gets you down to zero if not colder.

WE NO RETURN YOU TO OUR READY SCHEDULED PROGRAM, ALREADY IN PROGRESS.

I'm hoping the Liberty Indooro range starts some matches. Bristlecone was fun the 2x we went, but a bit of a drive.

I'm fairly certain I've never been on the bike when the temperature was below about 36 degrees. That was plenty cold enough for me.

We can't all be hard core like you, Jim.

Neat to know the club is still active and that you're shooting there. But I did a double take on your thread title because it's still the Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club.

I started as a junior shooter there in 1964, first with the Boy Scouts in hunter safety and basic rifle marksmanship, and then as a smallbore competitor in local, state and regional matches. I credit my coaches, Bob Tullis and Bill Hardy for starting me out right, they were terriffic teachers!

Our first club rifles were army surplus Remington 513T target rifles. Excellent rifles. I later bought a custom Anschutz match 54 from Bob Tullis, which I still have and shoot often.

Did anyone who shot this match ever receive an email with the scores?
