The media is saying many sportsmen are ok with raising the license fees. (double actually) are you?
http://www.9news.com/entertainment/television/programs/next-with-kyle-clark/colorado-parks-and-wildlife-man-sportsmen-support-hunting-fee-increase/310682020
I am not willing to pay more. Why should I? We, the hunters and fishermen, pay to use our outdoors. We are forced to pay the search and rescue fee. BUT, hikers, bikers, etc, get to use all the same ground and pay nothing. Everytime SAR goes out and finds someone, we pay for it out of our fees, fees they dont pay.
I thought there was plenty of money in the system until Hick decided to use our money to bail out parks.
Now I realize they will raise fees and I will pay them, but I dont want to.
Hey, here's an idea - why not make EVERYBODY ELSE pay higher fees too? The hikers, bikers, campers, swimmers, picnickers, boaters, etc. Want to combine Parks and Wildlife into one agency, then have an equitable fee structure across the board. So that everybody pays to play equally. Let's see how well THAT flies.....

There is a survey in the link on the 9news article for CPW and they make the questions seem like we are the enemy if we decide not to pay higher fees. Parks and Wildlife are combined now, why only make the Wildlife side pay up? I know that is because Wildlife is the only part that can actually be successful. I filled out the survey and told them to raise the prices of the parks for camping and boating during the heavy summer months when every park is packed to the brim every weekend. And figure out a way to get hikers and bikers to pay for day use as well.
I think people should have to have a hiking license after a hiker safety course that teaches them things like "don't take selfies next to cliffs" and "bring a jacket", "drink water", "don't be an idiot on purpose"; they should then have to apply for HMU licenses with point preference. AND 50% of HMU licenses should go to out of state hikers so that we can share the great state of Colorado. There should be biking season, hiking season, and horse season. If someone is caught biking outside of biking season, all rights (!?) revoked, their suburu impounded, and their life utterly ruined because how dare they?

I agree with your outrage but you are incorrect about the search and rescue fees. The search and rescue fee from licenses goes into a fund that the search and rescue groups can apply to get refunded for expenses. Since many are volunteers this is one way they can get reimbursed. OHV licenses also have the fee.
DOW had a very nice nest egg before they combine with parks, just like the last time this happened back in the early 70's I believe it was. And just like then parks has broken both agencies. I wouldn't mind paying double for tag fees IF THEY REDUCED the amount of tags given out (counter productive I know). I also wouldn't mind paying a higher tag cost as long as everyone else paid the same increase.
Oh fuck no.
i called this exact thing when they combined. Fuck the parks, let the tree hugging hippies clean up after themselves. Start cutting park personnel. There are plenty of volunteers out there just like the boat check people. Hunters manage themselves and take care of the lands quite well and a lot of us pick up after the few slobs.
so cut paid personnel at the parks first. Cut the fat. Raise park fees. Then seperate the parks and DOW. And if after all that we are really in a situation, Then raise out of state fees. Then resident fees.
Parks is a suck.
The worst part is the fees here are so much higher than neighboring states, and the sites/services suck more. PARKS personnel treat people like shit too. Apparently if you camp/boat at Pueblo Lake, you're a lowlife that deserves to be talked down to and berated. Fuck them.
I patronize hunt/fish and camping/boating and pay lots of fees annually in addition to state income tax, vehicle registration tax, sales tax, etc.. I'm willing to pay reasonable fees but expect better use of my money. There's so much waste it's sickening. I pay for an annual park pass to enter the state park system maybe 5-6 times/year.
DOW/Parks/State is also leasing out grazing land at higher and higher elevations in our GMU's that's killing the game feed areas and fucking the hunts.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea this was coming. I don't consider myself incredibly informed, but I was on the DOW website last week and read nothing.
I checked out the "survey" but didn't take it. All the questions seemed to revolve around what services those of us who get off the beaten path would like to pay for rather than increasing fees at parks. By observing the crowds at state parks over the summer it seems to me that they could increase the entry fee by a substantial margin and still do alright. Reservations are required if you plan to stay over a weekend, and if you want to camp or even picnic during many other days of the week, all you can do is hope there's room available.
I'll pay it. How long before we can fire Hickenlooper? Dude's been a disaster.
A lot of us saw this coming when they combined DOW with Parks. Look for them to try to raid the OHV fund again soon as well. All of this despite the fact that parks and rec receive huge funds from the lottery. Fuck Hickenlooper with a barrel cactus soaked in carb cleaner and ebola sauce!

Comrade, why do you hate Commierado?
Leave it to Hick, take a good thing, CDOW, and turn it into a bad thing, CPW. Way to go Hick.............I'd like to see a break down of exactly where the money is going. How much goes to fishing, how much goes to hunting, how much goes to parks, how much goes to all of the "projects" around the state.
This is like schools asking for more money, "it's for the children" they say. Only to find out that the money is really going to admin., the number 1 thing that burns up the money in the school system. Same thing here, ask hunters to carry the load only to find out Parks is where the money will go and hunters will see very little of nothing for their money.
They need to change their "Hug a Hunter"/"Hug a Fisher" ad campaign to "Fuck a Hunter"/"Fuck a Fisher".

We're making plans to do just that. Add this to the list of reasons why.

Remember the first few years of the habitat stamp program, everyone who used SWA's needed to buy one, it didn't last very long did it? I wonder why?
They (CPA) often talk about all the folks who enjoy the wildlife viewing, maybe those folks should ante up too... Why do hunters and fishermen always have to foot the bill for all to enjoy? How about a Pittman-Robertson type fee on more items the free users enjoy?
But, but, but, we're entitled to have someone else pay for all the free shit we get to enjoy...right?.[Sarcasm2]
Remember how good the pheasant hunting was when you had to pay $20 to access them... At least give me something for an additional fee!

Add us to the list. Making our plans to get out of here asap. I'm tired of being taxed to death for my families hard work and then be asked for more. Screw this state. It was at one time my dream come true but it has turned in to an expensive nightmare.

You mean to tell me they're not paying for parks and wildlife from the pot revenues? (From the funds they take out of the general fund to offset the MJ dollars earmarked for education)?
Shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

What blatant bullshit propaganda from 9news! Sportsmen DO NOT support more fees, fines, or taxes. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the communist environmentalists wanting more $$$ to advance more EPA/UN agenda 21.
It is always Problem-Reaction-Solution with those people. The problem never existed until the government got involved. The CDOW operated quite smoothly and efficiently before the communists merged the two agencies together. Now these cocksuckers want more $$$ to fix the problems they keep creating. F--- them!
Colorado is on it's way to being kalifornia 2.0. Eventually we will not be able to out run the creep of this communism. They will eventually completely destory this nation.
They are not going stop until everything is completely bankrupted and in utter chaos.
Sportsmen are NOT happy.

Petersburg said he's heard the same gripe from other regions' hunters, but said enforcing a licensing or use fee for hikers and mountain bikers would be difficult.
Um, no it wouldn't. No more than enforcing for hunters. Subaru Outback? Bernie 2016 sticker? "COEXIST" sticker? Constructive intent of hippyness and hiking follows. if in the woods, check their license. Giggity.

Bull. All you have to do is park a ranger at a trailhead and all the hikers will come to you. And they all wear bright colors so they are hard to miss. Hunters you have to track down, but that's easy?
TL;DR version: nuhuh, cant do that that will upset too many people.

Went on and found that DenverPost poll. That is crazy. All the Anti-hunters and hippies are voting Yes on it. 521 for Yes, 499 for No.
Opinion column by State Senator Leroy Garcia. A Democrat against raising fees!

I'll keep that attitude in mind, as I hike waaaay more than hunt, and I fit none of your stereotypes listed.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't hunted in 3 years+. My point, frankly, is that the liberals need to pay out their pierced noses such that they feel the stupidity of their being OK w/ this sort of behavior by the "government".
It's easy for them to be OK w/ something they don't do getting hamstrung. A lot harder when their hobbies get taxed into oblivion.

I havent bought a hunting or fishing license in colorado since the gun law fiasco. I dont even buy sporting goods in colorado anymore. Wyoming gets all my license and sales tax money now and they appreciate it. My wife and kids get hunting and fishing licenses in Woming as well, same as my step dad and nephews and my friends and coworkers that i hunt and fish with. I will gladly pay more for a license in a common sense state. But i refuse to spend a fricken penny on sporting goods or licenses in colorado. Being only 10 miles more to go to cheyenne then to fort collins i usually go to cheyenne for groceries and most of my shopping as well. If colorado never got another cent out of me that would be great. If the market stays good we are selling our house in may and moving to cheyenne. Its just a drop in the bucket but i used to buy the parks pass, boat registration, habitat stamp, small game and fishing combo, elk, deer, antelope and turkey licenses every year, so for me alone that was what $300 or so a year to the state? Plus my families, plus how ever many other sportsmen who have done the same. I couldnt care less about colorados money problems.
I do spend a $100 or so in nebraska ever year as well, they have tasty turkeys!
