Douglas County Deputy involved in a shooting near 470 & Parker. News is saying it was a homicidal DV suspect. Bad guy is deceased, deputy is in critical condition.

Sad stuff. Really hoping the officer recovers. He's not in good shape. :(

Just tripped across this event on facebook

Prayers to the Deputy.

Kinda pissed though that no amber alert or reverse 911 went out if things went down so close to the school and hospital (where my wife works).

Brutal, your article says the bad guy was stopped by a man with a concealed carry. I hope so. It would be nice if a law abiding citizen put an end to a dirtbag who shot a cop.

Witness Shawn Rubadue was nearby when a white camper crashed near the second scene. He said the gunman emerged from the camper and again opened fire.

Rubadue said the gunman was stopped by a man with a concealed carry. Rubadue fled the scene for safety soon after.

Sheriff Spurlock said his deputies stopped him. [ETA] Spurlock is not confirming at this time who killed the suspect...

I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Maybe this event will finally spur my wife into turning in her damn CHP paperwork.

Again, prayers for the deputy's recovery.

Prayers for the deputy to make a full recovery.

I was wondering what was going on as I saw several DCSD vehicles exiting at Parker Rd when I went by on E470 on my way home.

I happen to know the deputy involved as well as all the Parker Officers as I used to work for the pd for almost 10 years. I know that numerous DCSO and Parker Officers were in the gun fight. The deputy is not doing well.

I have a friend with Parker PD, but I'm not going to bother her...

FWIW, wife was not working at the hospital today (works nights anyway) but was out for training...

Sheriff Spurlock confirmed in a tv interview that the suspect was killed by a plainclothes officer.

Detective Dan Brite has been moved from the OR to ICU. No further info available at this time

Wife's coworker is a family friend of the Brite's as well.

Pray for them.

Detective Brite is still in ICU in very critical condition with no change overnight.

On another note.

So I did a little sleuthing last night and found the two adult males living in the residence that DCSO responded to. Amazing what you can find online.

I told my wife this morning that it was likely this guy.

The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the deceased suspect as 40 year-old Randall Rodick,
