I can't imagine this would pass, but so many things have passed in the last few years its hard to tell. I can't believe that it got enough support to get on the ballot. Take a look at this one, the gov has messed up the health care system so bad we can't afford it now and the answer is for them to take over even more:

https://ballotpedia.org/Colorado_Creation_of_ColoradoCare_System,_Amendmen t_69_(2016)

Who thinks of these things? Even Hickenlooper and Ritter are against it!

Well, hell. If Hickenlooper and Ritter are against it then I say we vote "yes".

F**k those guys.

With our large blue voter populations, and since we've made weed our state plant, we have enough brain dead voters and lazy leaches that this actually has a chance. Not a great one thankfully, but still a chance.

Don't do it Ray, step away from the edge! This passing would be crushing to Colorados economy.

Ooh, this new tax revenue would be exempt from TABOR - the liberals LOVE the thought of that.

Amendment 69 passing or failing is one of a couple determining factors to my family staying or moving out of CO.... I pray it doesn't pass.

Yep. If this passes, we're selling our CO house and changing our plans to move back to CO.

Same here. I work in the health care industry as a Business Analyst. This could put me out of work.

Been watching this for months and am super pissed that it even made it on ballot. I call shenanigans that they got it on ballot and am sure the Dems will engage in all kinds of voter fraud to pass it. Unfortunately, my next best employment prospects are in either CA (not going to happen, period) or the DC area. If the Dems are able to connive enough votes to pass it, I will be helping with whatever efforts are put forward for immediate repeal.

The good news is. Everyone who works can take a 10% pay cut when the co they work for can't just raise prices to cover it. It sounds good that everybody gets coverage, it's just that it's funded by the people who do work/invest. All non payroll income would be taxed 10% as well.

Not only that but the ColoradoCare Board of Trustees controls the tax rate. They are not subject to recall and they can vote Trustees off the Board if they don't like them.

Here is a link to a pdf of the amendment you will actually vote on.

It doubles the size of state government under the guise of free healthcare and creates a very costly enormous unaccountable bureaucracy.

Makes all confidential medical records available to the public as well.

It is communism.

It is a Democrat's wet dream. It will crush the incentive to improve one's financial station in life unless you are already quite wealthy or you are one of the goddamn 'crats running this horseshit.

ABSOLUTELY . No one expects the spanish inquisition .

This Amendment (remember that) has no cap on taxes levied, oversight committee (outside the 21 member panel) AND most importantly.............If passed, being an amendment, not a proposition. GFL getting it repealed, amended or accountability.

But- but- but Wyome...don't you want to contribute to all of us who don't have healthcare for life? You know if you do contribute you will feel so much better about helping your fellow Coloradans out. [Sarcasm2]

Christ.......any Amendment that includes "tax increase" is a fuck no. Why would anyone vote to give the State permission to steal more of their hard earned money?[facepalm]

It doesn't give the State permission to steal more of your hard earned money. It gives an independent Board of Trustees permission to steal your hard money.

It's like people have such a hard on for being in a different tax bracket that they don't even want the extra money that comes with making the jump.

Agreed. We're already scouting other areas just in case ... a lot of lefties are against it but Bernie just came out and endorsed it (even though his socialist buddy and Governor of Vermont vetoed this crap when they tried to pass it there saying it was unworkable).

If this passes, Colorado is unsalvagable and will be worse than California in less than a decade.

That said the leftard nutter that wrote the damn thing has said if it gets 35% of the vote she'll be surprised and consider that a moral victory. http://pagosadailypost.com/2016/08/26/interview-senator-irene-aguilar-on-amendment-69/

I retire from the state in 2026; but if this passes, I will walk away from my retirement and leave when my son graduates in 2018. I will get my house ready, and put it up for sale 1/1/2017. The window to leave will be short, because the economy will tank quickly; first priority will be dumping my house as quickly as possible.

How is this tax by a board of "trustees" not taxation without representation?

By the same people who are pushing this crap. Ask in any of the "letters to the editor" comments who decides the board. Silence.......

A state run , controlled more intrusive, expensive version of obamacare.

I'm surprised that number isn't higher. I figured the percentage of stupid people was around fifty percent or so.

Heard this too and just catching up...

You know the one thing that gives me hope is that we've moved to a point where socialism is getting expensive for the people voting for it. We've already spent future generations' money. We're already in debt past GDP. And the state can't print money so anyone who brings money in has to pay for 69. It would hit retirees, trust fund babies, and young workers just starting out (probably struggling with our increased cost of living in CO as it is). I don't think folks can afford the 3% pay cut let alone the 7% pushback in stagnant wages/reductions.

Kind of like Bernie Saunders being rejected by the Dem elite. They don't want to pay for the programs he would have created.

Guaranteed the numbers are low ball. It always costs more than advertised...see new VA Hospital. This bill would bankrupt our state. What's ironic is those who depend on the state (PERA members and others in the gov institutions) are the ones who overwhelming would vote for such an atrocity and jeopardize their own income and retirement.

DavieD55

Amendment 69 is total political gangsterism under a guise of free healthcare while completely wrecking healthcare.... as if obamacare didn't already acomplish this, but this would be a bunch of radical far left wing gangsters taking over and setting up a tyrannical government apparatus at the state level and the expense of taxpayers and the entire colorado economy.

Voting for this would be like voting for the Gambino crime famley or La Cosa Nostra to manage and control your family healthcare and doctor.

Until the public stops watching and believeing MSM corporate government propaganda and start to wake up and understand the real agenda, the "creative destruction" or "Schumpeter's gale" agenda that is NOT being shown or told on the those fancy flat screen home entertainment systems, we will continue to watch our nation crumble right before our eyes.
