Just for the fun of it I decided to take my new to me Jeep TJ up to Harris Park today. After sending a few hundred rounds down range I took the the Jeep up the road past the shooting area entrance (kind of going NE). Ran into a family of moose. Mama, Daddy and a pretty grown young one (female I think). I tried to get some pictures but before I could get the cell phone ready they had moved back into the trees. I didn't know they were that close. Pretty cool sighting.

You should have pulled over and taken a nap. They like to sneak up on ya and check out TJ's.

Did the moose ask how many miles you had on that Jeep?

No but he cleaned the windshield and checked the air in the tires.

No but he cleaned the windshield and checked the air in the tires. Cool, you just cannot find full service any more.

But where is the coin caddy?

Fricking moose.

I got an elk cow and a doe tag and I had a cow and a bull moose come within 20 yards of me when I was sitting and eating some peanuts. The cow was HUGE. The bull was smaller but had a decent rack on him (still a damn big animal). The cow looked at me like I was a fly on the wall and ignored me, but the bull stared at me for about 30 seconds, started to eat some leaves, then looked back at me and started to snort and make "cow" sounds, like, "mwwwwaaaaaa', "mwwwwwaaaaaaaa".

I got the hint and bolted the hell outta there.

Don't you have to apply for a moose tag like, a stupid number of times before they'll even consider you?

Pretty animals, tatsty too! I seen a mama and pretty young calf years ago up near Chambers lake, the perfect distance too, on the other side of a good field nearby my fishing spot.

Pretty much, in Colorado anyway. I think there were about 217 licenses available to ~16,000 applicants. I didn't draw this year after 17 years of applying.

I did see moose earlier this evening; posted pics in the wildlife thread: https://www.ar-15.co/threads/156339-Wildlife-amp-Related/page7

17 years - jeezus, I'd be hunting them from a wheelchair.....

I believe it could only be 4 years if you're really lucky. After your first 3 you put in you can draw, as it's a lottery. Could be 4 years, could be never, just luck of the draw.
