My wife needs new glasses and cost is a factor. Does anyone in the NorCO Ft. Collins area have any suggestions or recommendations as to a good place to go for the best value?

Americas Best Contacts and Eyeglasses. My wife goes there and says it's the cheapest she has found.
The lenses are the cheap part compared to the frames that is where people end up spending a lot of money.

Skip on anti scratch, thinner material, etc. all of those "enhancements" add up. Reuse old frames

If they're not bifocals, I'm wondering if purchasing them online might not be an option? Once she gets her glasses prescription, check out GlassesUSA. Visionworks also has decent sales, as does America's Best.

The places online are pretty cheap. I had a coworked who had new glasses all the time, the glasses were costing her around $40 delivered via online orders. Check it out as it might be a great way to go.

Ya, mine are from zenni. I've probably over-worn them. Black paint on ears have all flaked to flat grey. I'd agree minimize fancy coatings ( like the expensive ones I'm hard on them and seem to lose the coatings over time) This pair is about due for replacement.

I think it's worthwhile to try if she isnt hyper picky. Just remember to keep in mind to go simple, expect shorter shelf life, but I think the savings out weight reduced life. (Think my last fancy pair with "discount" was like $200 or so and usually last me 3-4 tops)

Biggest draw back is without seeing in person, they might be different than expected. I didnt like hyper thin, but the ones I got came out a bit too hipster thick.

I am also a fan of China in this regard, particularly after paying $400 twice in three months after breaking a pair. I pay about $12 + shipping per pair now, and the lenses are indistinguishable from my expensive domestic pairs. You can option them up with coatings and better frames and junk, but even fully loaded, I think it would be difficult to get over $50 on Zeni. I buy four pairs of the basic glasses at a time.

Two suggestions and two caveats about ordering from Zeni:
1. Have your optometrist measure your inter-pupilary distance (IPD), which is usually expressed in millimeters. They will give you either a composite or a left eye / right eye measurement. It is way easier for the optometrist to do this than for you to do it with a ruler and hope.
2. Measure the frame size you currently have and like. You want the overall width and the lens height. This way you don't get glasses that are too narrow for your face, which is easy to do on Zenni.
3. These things quite literally come on the slow boat from China. When they tell you the glasses will arrive has no real bearing on reality. My last order took four weeks to arrive, despite their promise that it would be here in 10 days. Such is the price for cheap glasses from overseas.
4. Your probably selling your soul and all your personal data to China. However, it's really just redundant information, since they have already hacked all your junk already, or you've traded it for a cheap TV. Such is the price for cheap glasses from overseas.

As long as they're not bifocals I'd recommend the online route. I order a few at a time in case they don't fit or look ok. At about $20 per pair it's still way cheaper than Costco or Walmart. Zennioptical.com Eyebuydirect.com and Goggles4u.com have worked out well.
