View Full Version : How Bad Was (Is) the Iran Deal?
"In exchange for sitting down and talking, the Iranians would get hundreds of millions of dollars monthly, stabilizing their economy. Eventually U.S. diplomats offered Iran a deal that legalized full-blown uranium, plutonium, and ballistic-missile work on a timeline—with international sponsorship for Iranian work in the meantime—and did not force the country to disclose its previous nuclear cheating.
The deal also immediately released roughly a hundred billion dollars to Iran, shredded the international sanctions regime, would have American officials traveling to drum up business for Iran, removed restrictions on a range of Iranian terrorists, and allowed Iran to keep spinning thousands of centrifuges throughout the deal—and then, to sell all of that, the president and his allies said that American diplomats did the best anyone could have."

Forgot to mention the hostage payments.... oh wait did that have anything to do with that deal?

Nope, that was a separate deal from when the Shah was still in power- money owed for previous deals that was never paid... Now done to release hosta- I mean, settle old debts. Never mind that as soon as the money arrived they released the hostages. And IIRC, $400B in cash, multiple currencies, on pallets, delivered in an unmarked, non-military aircraft.

Someday ... possibly soon. There are going to be thousands of innocent people (likely Israelis but possibly Americans) that are going to die under a mushroom cloud because of Obama's actions.
I hope on that day he's arrested, tried and hanged. (not holding my breath)

God I hope not!

And now that we have the condemnation of current policy decisions clearly outlined, we can now move onto to the 'solutions' segment.
Lay it out there, ladies and gentlemen! What would YOU do in regards to Iran?

1) Nuke them before they nuke us. Problem solved for the next century at least.
2) Carry on with the rest of civilized society.
3) When they get uppity again, which they always do, start back at 1)

300k Christians (on the low-end) residing in Iran, bitch-kitten.
Is your focus 'self-preservation' or 'gospel'.
There were quite a few more than 300k Christians in Germany a few years back, the only reason we didn't nuke them was they gave up too fast.

But...but...we have to be nice to the hajjis! The only reason they want to kill us is because we haven't been nice to them!! They just want (free) iPhones and healthcare like everybody else!! I know this is true because CNN told me so.
If someone is, and has been actively engaged in overt and covert war with you, the fact that there are Christians that live in that country means nothing. We execute Christians for Murder, firebombed entire German population centers during WW II that were Christians, 90%of participants and Civilians of the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexicans American War, Civil War, Spanish American War, WW1 were Christian. What does the population of Christians in Iran have to do with warfare against a Islamic Terrorist State?

The United States faces many national security challenges. In no particular order, these include:
1. The unchecked rise of Islamic terrorism;
2. The failure of the US-sponsored governments in Iraq and Afghanistan;
3. Rise of the Islamic State;
4. Rise of Iran, encouraged and funded by a self-destructive American foreign policy establishment;
5. The fraying of NATO, illustrated by Turkey’s collapse into Islamist dictatorship and the EU’s pursuit of an independent (but oppositional to the US) military strategy;
6. Failure of diplomacy to unite us with the Russians against the common enemy in Islam;
7…leading to, the necessity to marshal resources to counter Russian adventurism;
8. Chinese seizure of the sovereign territory of US allies in the Pacific, including the Philippines (the one bright spot is the potential for US alliance with Vietnam, of all places);
9. Chinese and Russian espionage and the complete failure of American leadership to take it seriously;
10. Damage to US-Israeli relations from an ill-advised clandestine regime change attempt in Israel;
11. The hollowing out of the military by 15 years of COIN war and numerous botched and cancelled procurement programs.
12. Degrading of military readiness by pursuit of social engineering at the expense of combat effectiveness.

Yep, I got that. Makes SOME sense when ambiguously replied to in that fashion... As well as:

'weaponsman.com' wouldn't be something I would rely on as my single source of truth or as a basis for my postings on a firearms forum, but I would like to revisit what I originally replied to. The same reply you went all absolutist on (without fully comprehending the discussion that was in play that you 'weighed in on'):

Is that what you support? Deploying nuclear weapons against Iran?
And to provide context from another thread:
We can drill through glass - just sayin.
My question wasn't directed toward your belief that we are mishandling our interaction with Iran. I am in the camp that it is being mishandled.
My post was addressed to a VERY holy man that believes that vaporizing tens of millions of people via nuclear weaponry IS our solution.
What say YOU?... Now that you're 'caught up'.
And can you always start over at this question.... minus the ignorant 'nuke em' reply:

I have never claimed to use weaponsman.com as my "single source of truth".
What exactly would be wrong with using a blog such as weaponsman.com as a source for posting on a Firearms forum? They seem in many ways to me to relate quite well with each other. I happen to appreciate alot of what the man has to say. It's an interesting read.

I don't believe we should automatically assume the nuclear option is off the table, especially when discussing rogue terrorist States like Iran or North Korea.
My post was addressed to a VERY holy man that believes that vaporizing tens of millions of people via nuclear weaponry IS our solution.
You seem to have a bone to pick with a "Holy Man" not sure however who that Man is is.
