View Full Version : Thoughts on Lee deluxe power quick trim
http://leeprecision.com/deluxe-power-quick-trim.html
Seems like a nifty tool. After trimming and deburring 100 rounds by hand, I realize hand trimming seriously blows. I like the fact this trims and chamfers at the same time. The only other trimmers I found that do both cost way more money. While I'll eventually get a universal trimmer, probably the Lyman, this seems to fit the bill for some of the more common calibers I'd reload (.223 and .45). The only bad thing I could find in reviews is the plastic adjustment ring can't handle the torque of a drill and tends to break/wear out. A powered screw driver seems to be a better power source to prevent damaging the ring. Anyone have any experience with this trimmer or have other recommendations for a similar tool?
I use a drill on my Lyman universal with power adapter... not as fast as a Dillon 1000, but it gets the job done.

I purchased a couple of these WFT's used from a member here, work great. I have no experience with the lee product. Looks like it requires multiple steps, insert brass, raise ram, run drill, lower ram, remove brass, repeat. Seems slow to me, lots of functions.
I chuck this up in a hand drill or use my lathe. If doing many cases though, keep an eye on your hand drill, it might be getting warm. :) (cordless type)

I use this and a small power drill to turn 9mm cases into 9mak cases. It's roughly a 0.050" removal for each case.
Works great.

No problems with the plastic collar wearing down and affecting your trim length? That seems to be the major complaint.

Just watched the videos. Nice tool. Pricey considering I'd need one for each caliber I'd reload. Getting one for .223 may be worth it since I plan to reload that the most. Thanks for the info.

The WFT 2 has a main housing and then changeable inserts for different calibers.

With the old version yes, with the new version you just swap out the inserts for the cartridge and it's much more reasonable.
