View Full Version : Is Thank You Too Much
So, I'm at my local (non Starbucks) coffee shop getting a chocolate malt because they are good with Bourbon. [Coffee] An Asian-American 20 something is ahead of me. She orders a hot chocolate. Barista hands it to her and she promptly starts swigging on it. CC is declined. She has/or isn't coughing up any money. She just stands there still swigging on the damn hot chocolate that she can't afford.
I don't have all day to watch this play out, so I put a 20 on the counter and say take it out of that. Barista thanks me. I don't get a look, a thank you, a kiss my ass from the girl. WTF! Farking tourons!
Luckily she was nowhere to be seen when I left.

You enabled her entitlement. Why would she thank you?
I would have waited for the entertainment..
I'm willing to bet she was counting on someone paying for it, or the coffee shop employee to let her have it free. Either way, I personally wouldn't have done a thing for her.
You didn't smack it out of her mouth and use the crisp twenty to wipe up the mess, then throwing the soiled twenty into the trash?
With todays youth I bet she knew her CC would be declined and knew someone would step up and pay for it so she just waited... hence the immediately grabbing it and started drinking... ugh....

I hope that the counter person remembers that customer. She should not even be allowed back in the store.

Sounds like she is a Bill Clinton student. He went to London, got a drink didn't pay. Secret service had to pay.

She is a thief and it sounds premeditated.

I think Pook got played.
Pay first, that’s how most businesses keep that from happening. Only when sitting at a table do you generally get served before it’s paid for. Pook got played, I say it was a set up, and the barista was in on it.

Too bad it wasn't hot enough. The third degree esophageal burns would have put a stop to this behavior quick enough.
We don't see this sort of riff-raff at Starbucks. [Beer]

Next time, when ya pay for it, make sure to grab it. Then tell her she's got about 6 minutes while you're in the store to figure out how pay you back if she wants the drink.
Disclaimer: I don't think I could straight faced be this level of asshole. If anyone else pulls it off, a beer is going to be tipped to you.
Probably counting too much on the pan-handler having enough decency to want to earn something. Whoever does this will just get a smirk and see them darken the door as they leave, then be stuck with a drink they didn't order in the first place.

Did she speak English? Was she a filthy hippie? These are important details bro. [Coffee]
Farking tourons LOL Peepers. Another week or so and they'll be gone.

Hookers too, from what I've been told.
At the casino last night I had a Massage Therapist come up to me complaining that a poker player she worked on for 2 hours paid her for 1 hour then said "f-off" and refused to pay her for the 2nd hour. I told her "You should probably get payment first..." The MT's aren't our employees, so not much I can do but throw his ass out. Some people are d-bags.

Why would you waste your money and pay for someone's drink who won't appreciate it or doesn't give a flying fuck if you live or die? The little bitch played you. Sorry but I don't understand why you did this? You giving away kidneys to heroin addicts too? You voting for Clinton?
Tom is a good, solid dude. He probably thought he was helping someone out at the time, but got no respect or thanks in return. Too common these days. I'm sure if he thought the chick wouldn't appreciate it he wouldn't have done it.

Thanks GG. I didn't give a shiat about the customer. Yes, she spoke perfect English. Born & raise American. Dressed well. I did it for the barista, which I have known for 10+ years.

As usual, Tor, the usual farking spooge. On the ignore list for a reason. GG is the only reason I even saw your useless post. Moving on...
I would not have started shiat in the shop. I know and respect the owner too much. No one in the store knew what was going on. As I said, she was nowhere in site when I went outside. Even hung around for a bit. The though of taking the drink from her crossed my mind more than once.

Classy thing you did.
If we all stopped being polite for fear of it not being appreciated, pretty soon we'd all forgot what polite looks like.

That's Buddy Christ.
I hate it when people disappoint me like that. :(
That sucks that she behaved as she did; both to you and the barista. Some people's children should have to pass a test before being introduced to he public.

You mean like getting your coffee paid for and not saying thanks? Yeah, we're there, bub.
Cheers for being a nice guy, we need more people like you and a LOT less people like her.
I miss the days when helping out another human was common, and you would get a thanks and everyone would be better off for serving their fellow man and for being helped out. Most times now a person who tries to help someone out gets dumped on, or worse. We live in a self-absorbed, self-centered world and the gleams of just being a regular nice guy here and there are lost.

I miss the days when helping out another human was common, but NOT EXPECTED/DEMANDED, and you would get a thanks and the recipient truly appreciated your gift/help...

Welcome to the 'Entitlement Society'. Remember the saying "the children are our future"? Yeah, we're so screwed.
For every one of her, there are thousands of young men and women serving in the military, training to be firemen, paramedics, police, etc...
One rude individual is no cause to denigrate the entire generation.
If you lower your expectations of people they will disappoint you less and surprise and encourage you more. I try to save my higher expectations for myself, my children, and my friends, in that order. [Flower]
Our military continues to shrink and the number of adults living in their parent's homes has grown by the millions. I wish this snowflake were just a 'one-off'.

(who online orders 2 burritos?)
I do it anytime the wife and I eat Chipotle, much easier than having to try and remember what my wife wants at the counter.
