Sad day for Palm Springs. Looks like they were responding to a disturbance at a residence when the shooting erupted. 2 officers killed, 1 wounded.

Shooter was 'at large' and that had me concerned. Looks like they finally caught the SOB. Too bad so many states don't use the death penalty.

They seem to have caught the perp earlier this morning. Very sad, new mom and a 30 year vet who was scheduled to retire in December, just trying to help their fellow citizens. I have huge respect for cops who go forward in today's environment, it's got to be the most dangerous, disrespected time for law enforcement in recorded history.

I would dearly love to see the FOP sue Governor Moonbeam for allowing this to happen ...

...and here we go...
Suspect in Palm Springs police shooting killed victims with high-powered rifle, authorities say (http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/suspect-in-palm-springs-police-shooting-killed-victims-with-high-powered-rifle-authorities-say/ar-BBxiWWD?li=BBnbfcL)

The man accused of killing two Palm Springs police officers as they stood outside his door this weekend used a "high-powered" rifle with an extended magazine to fire on his victims through a metal security grate, according to authorities.

As the Riverside County District Attorney's Office prepared to announce official charges Tuesday against John Felix, sheriff's officials released new details in the investigation.

Among other findings, authorities said that Felix, 26, was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms because he was a convicted felon.

"There is ongoing investigation into how he got the rifle," said Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Vasquez. The department declined to specify the model or caliber of the rifle but described it as an "assault rifle." Authorities previously said that Felix was wearing body armor and had high-capacity magazines in his possession when he was arrested.
Shocking that an admitted gang member with a record wasn't deterred from breaking gun laws when he decided to murder police officers.
