I was stationed at Andrews AFB, MD twice; 7 1/2 years of suffering. I would be shocked if they don't charge him. I can only hope the DA see's it for what it truely is; given right to defend one's self and property, but I'm not holding my breath. MD is far from logical.
Yeah, it's not like the state's justice system completely failed at keeping a violent, habitual criminal off the streets, forcing the lowly citizen to defend himself. It's not like the state failed over 20 times over the last 4 years to protect the public from this individual.

He lunged at the guy, what else can you do but chop his ass up? Since when is defending yourself a crime? Is MD really that stupid? Do they really suspect someone to confirm that a suspect is armed before taking defensive action with a weapon?
Put in the same situation I would have made a art piece of dudes brain matter all over the wall. I wouldn't have even though twice about it either.
Unfortunately, people need to be protected by a Castle Doctrine to stay out of jail. I doubt MD has one. In Colorado, I don't think this would be an issue.
the story says they are still holding him WTF. If this happened in colorado (except denver)
The guy wouldn't have spent 5 mins in a cell. unless there is something they are not releasing, I think its silly they are holding. Sounds like clear cut case of self defence.
On another board, I suggested that the local citizens file a class action lawsuit against the state for their failure to keep this guy off the streets. They had plenty of chances.

Agreed. I would be scraping his gray matter off of my drywall too. I think the issue they will be mulling over is he left the house to the garage with the sword. MD caters to the theory that if you can avoid hurting the F'n thief/rapist/murderer who has just violated your property/rights/you/ your family, then it's better to avoid the death and call the cops...... Just saying what I've see when living there. Go an hour north from Baltimore (the official kling-on next to the A-hole of the USA) and this wouldn't have been an issue. The only question the PA cops would have had was why the dude didn't own a gun and had to use a sword.

Holy Sh!t I don't think anybody has been killed with a sword for like 90 years I could be wrong. But good for him, cleaning the gene pool 1 scum bag at a time
come on,, we all know the proper thing to do was to sit and try and talk to the scu... er person, call 911 and let the cops do their job,, I mean he was only released on Sat and prolly needed some stuff to get by till he got a job...
HE WAS NOT A NINJA.. glad to know that bit of info....
Now they gotta come up with an assault weapons ban to stop the violence occurring with samurai swords! Thats just awesome. Agreed, a little cleaner, leave him be.

What's wrong with you people? This man was a victim until his death. He was a victim of a society that failed him over and over - that's why he kept comitting crimes that got him put in jail and why he was in that hateful homeowners home his last night alive. He had rights too......
Oh dang... I can't do it with a straight face. The dirtbag got what he deserved - perhaps even better than he deserved. He has been a wart on the butt of society for far too long. The officials in MD need to re-evaluate their values and hail the home-owner as a hero for saving other citizens from this criminal.
How is it that we, as a nation, have come to the point where a criminal is a victim and a victim is a criminal and self-defense is prohibited?

Wonder if he bought the sword from one of those mall d&d crowd catering looking places? A sword![ROFL1] I wonder what the sword swingers face looked like after the first blow. Assuming he swung more than once. Thats an intimate killing weapon there. Kind of too personnel for me. I like the idea of bullets doing the dirty work for these bad guys.
He nearly decapitated the guy with one swing, and they said that there was a second mark on his chest.
OOPS! I'm illiterate. He hit him twice, and one time nearly severed his HAND, not head. Good thing I checked, I was just about to yell at a guy on another board and make an ass out of myself. heh
aaahhh memories of John Belushi and Samuri Delicatessen

You're right, the guy had no ability to make a decision for himself, get help, straighten up. [ROFL1]
Likewise the guy whose home he invaded had no choice but to defend himself. Good on him for defending himself, he should be thanked for doing what the justice system should have done years ago, and he did it without wasting any taxpayer money!

A sword. Not as clumsy or random as a firearm, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

I have a feeling that this guy didn't really know out to use it and just started swinging, like I would have.
again he was NOT a Ninga.....
carry on.......
