Saw this posted on Nextdoor - this is the gun shop right off of Parker Rd. & Main St. on the SE corner where the McDonalds, Wells Fargo, and Goodwill is:

"On October 29, 2016, shortly after midnight, Parker Police officers responded to a glass break alarm and discovered a burglary at Pony Express Firearms (10970 S Parker Rd). An unknown number of suspects broke the front glass windows of the store and reached through metal bars to grab two (2) AK-47 rifles, one (1) AR-15 Rifle and one (1) shotgun.

We do not have any description of suspects or vehicle at this time. Detectives are working on any possible video surveillance in the area, but none has been found at this time that provides any leads in this case.

A bulletin was sent to local law enforcement. If anyone has information, we ask them to call Parker Police Detective Gary Gerlach at 303-805-6535, or the Parker Police main number at 303-841-9800.

This is an active and ongoing investigation."

First place I thought to look for more info was this board. Not sure if they'll release more info but 4 long guns on the loose in the hands of scumbags is not a good thing.

4 guns stolen after smash-and-grab robbery at Parker gun store

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/crime/4-guns-stolen-after-smash-and-grab-robbery-at-parker-gun-store

The suspect or suspects broke the glass at Pony Express Firearms in the area of Mainstreet and South Parker Road just after midnight Saturday and reached through metal bars to take the firearms, according to Parker Police Commander Chris Peters.

The robber or robbers took two AK-47s, one AR-15 rifle and one shotgun.

"It's concerning that these guns are out in the public and in the hands of criminals," Peters told Denver7. "It's concerning that it was so easy to grab them as well. The security measures -- yes, there's bars on the windows but to just be able to reach in and grab these and take them in such a quick time, that's concerning as well," he said.

Grabbed em' right by the pistol grip, no doubt.

Last time we did this it was revealed labor cost was too high to lock up weapons overnight. And that employees would scratch/damage them.

Is it too much to ask that the Weapons of War Democrats want to ban at least not be within arms length?

Sorry if it's off-topic, but didn't this store have a different name some years back?

Been there before, good guys. Thieves are shitbags, I can't say that enough.

I hope they catch those dbags. That being said, it befuddles me that a gun store doesn't lock its highest $$$ merchandise in a safe after hours. I have a safe with my guns in them for safety and security. Why not a gun store?

They have bars in the windows there, probably thought that was enough. Although I completely agree with you, a lot of the mentality in Parker is "it will never happen here" or "This is a nice area."

Locking up all firearms in a retail store is not easy. It would take numerous safes, at least an hour of paid time, not to mention that guns will get nicked and scratched. Not feasible. I haven't been in this store for over a year but last time the front of the building, where all windows are at, were barred over and the displays were about 5-6' from the Windows. A smash and grab would not have been feasible just reaching through the windows. Either the current owners changed the displays in the store or the information reported is off.

I wouldn't be hard if the dirt bags did their homework and surveyed the store to rip the bars off the Windows with a vehicle depending how they are attached they to give a fast grab and go though.

Parker's small town feel is long gone. Now it is nothing more than another part of Denver. So many people have moved here over the last decade, everywhere you look it is urban sprawl so we can collect more tax money. Unfortunately they keep approving more and more high density housing and apartments which will just bring more and more of this type of thing. Anyone driven on Lincoln during rush hour in the last year? I swear the population has doubled if not more just in the last few years.

I think if we are going to have crime like this I would rather it be a motor cycle gang like Sons of Anarchy that tries to keep the small town small. Didn't they take local crackheads and crooks and dump their bodies into high density construction areas? May be a good tradeoff, solves two problems at once.

I hope they catch these guys and I hope they charge them with breaking that new background check law as I am sure they skipped that critical step! With any luck maybe they even stole a magazine that holds 16 or more rounds... That'll teach em!

I've lived in Parker my whole life and now evade ir around rush hour and the weekends. Aurora is moving in for sure you take a look at the workers in small shops, fast food, and Walmart, let alone the migrants wandering around. I saw a transient last year in town. WTF

It is feasible, and quite a few stores do.

Dumb ones don't, and make themselves targets.

Thats a cool store, they have a great collection of militaria, museum quality stuff.

Pretty ballsy theft given it's location. Let's hope the cameras did their job.

I hate to see this stuff happen to small businesses as well. It is possible to put guns in safes, depending on the size of the store. If someone really wants to break into your store to steal guns, they'll be able to do it, it's all about that risk mitigation. If you make it hard enough, they won't try to get into your store, they'll try another store. Thieves are always looking for people to victimize, don't make it easy for them. Even if it's just putting the rifles on a locking rack that you lock at the end of a night, you can always do something. Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

Where the hell are the residents of that new townhome complex just off main street supposed to park, any way?

Free city buses like 16th st mall in Denver. Can't wait to pay for that!
