Can't view the pics here at work. But, if anyone wishes to ski on the same slopes that the 10th Mountain Division trained on, Ski Cooper is great. Very family friendly, all natural snow, and cheapest prices in Colorado.

That is where the majority of my Skiing was done back in high school in the 80's

I'm very naive. Why is one guy climbing all in white and carrying a Thompson? Was that an honorific throwback to it's origin?

Yes Camp Hale is the World War 2 birthplace of the 10th Mountain Division and there were World War 2 Veterans present for the event.

One of my shooting buddies is in that unit. He's pretty stoked for the repatching.

The 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment (Mountain), Colorado Army National Guard, became part of the historic 10th Mountain Division during a ceremony at Camp Hale, Colorado Sunday.

Saw the title and thought the division was moving to Ft Carson. As a 10th Mountain vet it's good to see them have a connection to this state again.

My father's ashes (85E) are spread on that very cliff and at Ski Cooper.
I wanted so badly to get up there yesterday.

Climb To Glory!

I would imagine there are more than a few up there with him.

I can't put into words at how badass I think this is. Welcome Home 10th.

Was curious as to why a National Guard unit would be re-patching to what's historically been an Active component.

Found the answer: https://www.armytimes.com/articles/army-units-change-patches-as-part-of-active-guard-and-reserve-pilot-program
http://www.denverpost.com/2016/10/21/10th-mountain-division-returns/

So, this allows them to train with 10th Mountain and have a working relationship for deployments. Apparently an old concept being reborn according to the comments section. One former 20th SFG said they used to do this with 7th SFG and it was pretty effective?
