Friend who lives in Montana is trying to brag up how much freedom is out there all the time. Tonight he is bragging about big fireworks the night before the 4th. I laughed and told him that since they are totally illegal here, we get to hear them for a month before, and a month after the 4th. No joke in my neighborhood.

Like clockwork, some idiot posted up they heard "gunshots" at 8:45pm. I did find out I have some pretty funny neighbors.

"Sounded like an Uzi. Do you think it was an Uzi?"

"Have you ever actually heard a gunshot? Fireworks sound exactly nothing like a gunshot. This is Highlands Ranch, not Compton."

"Sounded like an Uzi?"

"Definitely a friggen Uzi near 4th of July. Oh lord."

"I know the Highlands Ranch crips and the Lone Tree bloods have been fighting over turf. It's probably them. Hard to tell."

"Put your phone down, go outside, and enjoy the show."

"Hide your wife, hide your kids, the Ranch is getting shot up!!"

"Own a calendar???"

"Yeah, definitely an Uzi."

"Ah, thank you. It had been like 4 days without a 'anyone else hear gun shots?!' post. I'm so glad we got at least one more in before the 4th. Happy birthday America!"

"Totally a fire fight...thought I even caught a M2 and Mk19 volley of fire."

"I heard a bomb go off! But I'm pretty sure it was my wife exploding after I told her the salad tastes horrible. If I were you I would hide behind your Prius, I heard the batteries are eco friendly."

"I heard a cruise missile fly overhead but no gunshots."

Now that's damm funny!

I have managed to keep my mouth shut on Nextdoor so far, but it is very hard. Boulder libs aren't quite sure what to do when somebody takes a dump in their echo chamber

Try living next to Fort Cartoon. The house shakes on the high end of the Richter scale. The gunships are so loud passing overhead, you have to stop speaking. If you have PTSD don't move to Pueblo West, it is just like a war zone with coyotes howling. The cool part is you can usually find MRE's at any yard sale.

Dude...

It's Pueblow...

It's not like a war zone... It IS a war zone. Pueblow is the only place we've had issues with padlocks being cut off of trailers during a stop for dinner, and not a long dinner.

And I get to go to some sketchy shit holes...

The "will you think of my dog's fragile psyche" people are invoking vets are pretty hard this year.

Not just using vets, highlands ranch is asking folks to not shoot fireworks to not traumatize the stem kids...

Gman — I keep hearing gunshots, sounds like an Uzi, should I call the police?

Not on NextDoor, but have been watching the new and actually read yesterday's Gazette (newspaper) where they indicated "authorities will really be stepping up enforcement of the fireworks ban this year".

Not really sure what/how they are enforcing the ban as I sit on my back porch while typing this it sounds like the entire city of Colo Spr is under a Red Dawn attack. REKLC3s30Mw

I think my entire neighborhood was launching bottle rockets from 30 round mags with binary triggers and bumpstocks -- or whatever the fireworks equivalent is.

It's still going.

I think most of the "violators" have DV plates and dogs, too. [ROFL1]

911, ASAP. [Sarcasm2]

Neighbors really stepped up their game this year. Much more enthusiastic this year.

...although whoever that was that was still going at 12:30am needs to chill.

Yeah, there are some around here that are also not letting it go yet, even at this hour.

It was ~1:00AM here on the east side. I purposefully stayed up late to bask in the freedom (no point in trying to sleep) and no kids to worry about this year.

Intermittent rain/sprinkling helped with the fire risk. It was a good night to party. I'm sure I'll hear leftover tonight!

It didn't bother me since I didn't need to work today. I felt bad for my wife that did have to work.

I'm expecting an extended 4-day Independence weekend. 'Merica!

And the Pueblo locals lived up to their reputation. Photo gleaned from neighborhood Facebook group. The beach is closed at Pueblo Reservoir due to high bacteria levels, so you don't want to swim here to cool off either.

No rain down there?

Nextdoor is lit. I'd like to see a Vehn Diagram of the "my precious fur babies" and America-hating Libs. I think they are a near perfect eclipse.

Okay, I also find that very funny.

I guess if you're a Trump supporter and don't like the fireworks, you can just bring up that they were invented by the Chinese...and we're celebrating 'Merica!

The story is the fire was a result of illegal fireworks, where one neighbor set the others backyard on fire. Then they hid in their house, when the fire department arrived. There were no Venn diagrams to consult...

It was loud a bit last night but really calmed down around 9-10:00PMish. Didn't hear anything after 10.

Also, shouldn't this be moved to Stuck On You section? I mean, it's 52 pages long and going still.

s riding around pioneer ridge in a golf cart. To the parents of the kids driving the golf cart around pioneer ridge at 9pm tonight. I almost hit these kids driving around a golf cart tonight by pioneer ridge elementary school. The kids are driving around a cart with no lights while in the dark. I drive a big truck and came up on them.
It might be a safer idea to not let your kids ride around in this golf cart with no lights after dark. This is an accident waiting to happen

I'm reminded of the Lost Dog post from one of our neighbors, with pictures.

She'd lured a young coyote into her home ... fed it some of her dog's food ... even remarked that this lost dog didn't seem to get along too well with her dog.

Made me seriously wonder how urbanized people survive in the high country?
