I see i'm not the only one the space bar is not working for when posting. Believed it to be a "Chrome" issue as it stoppedbeing an issue with firefox. SURPRISEitseems to be anongoing issue. Unless i go back and edit after posting.

Having the same issue. Workaround is to use the 'Advanced' editor.

Enter a few characters, hit return so the cursor gits to next line, enter a few more characters, hit delete a few times, now go back to first line and type as normal.

Does it also happen in a word processing program (i.e., off-browser), or just in browser?

I'm not having any difficulties with spaces at all.

Men inherently have greater natural spatial ability than women. That's probably why.

yep, thought it was just me. Hit enter, backspace back to previous line and all is fine after that. (appears once per visit to the site, until I close and come back)

When i do that i'm back at beginning of sentence. Yes Advanced is checked.

I would just roll with it and if anybody bitches about it just blame it on the meds.

I sometimes get a problem of the curser not appearing until after typing a few characters then backspacing, along with the space bar intermittently not spacing.

Not seeing the problem myself. I access the site via an iPad using Safari 99% of the time.

Throw the troubleshooter a bone. Those experiencing the problem, what OS and browser (including browser version) are you using?

Anyone else see the common denomnator here. It appears to be a problem with Chrome parsing the code from vBulletin. I'll research it.

Sorry guys/gals. Been traveling way to much this fall/early winter. Just getting to this.

Oddly, we haven't changed a damn thing here. My guess is the WYSIWYG editor has some incompatibility with a new version of chrome. And when your chorme did an update, it broke it for you. I'm gonna see if there are any updates to the forum software that include a new version of the editor.

Kind of loathing it... who knows what the upgrade will mess up elsewhere... but I'll do it out of love for you all.

I am sure it is Chrome and I am looking at using a new browser as Chrome seems to be crashing more and more lately. Recommendations?

Firefox just had a huge zero day exploit published on it. They just released a fix. Allows a hacker to put malware on your computer (windows version only) from a hacked/compromised webpage without you knowing or even downloading anything. Make sure you get that patch applied if you move to FireFox.

FireFox is good, as is chrome (usually, but seems a bad batch has come out recently). Opera usually ranks next. If you are Mac, safari is pretty decent, but not quite at the top of the list. As awful as Internet Explorer used to be, the newer versions (IE 11, Edge) aren't nearly as awful (less bad, but not quite good), and will get you through fine while the others get fixed up. If you want to be 'cutting edge' check out vivaldi and torch. Pretty cool features, good performance, but new(ish) players on the market. Both have worked for me, but I'd give the nod to vivaldi. Its personal customization is pretty cool.

Chrome will get fixed up soon. There is too big of an opensource ecosystem with chromium (which feeds into chrome) for these bugs to remain at-large.

Users are seeing the same issue over on another vb 4.1.x forum I frequent...

Its neither here nor there, but today I had to use Waterfox to get an HTML5 interactive/video presentation to show/run only after clicking through several errors that were stalling all other browsers. Sigh.

I just had it happen on a Win10 machine using Opera 41.0

It is hit or miss. Right after it happened on one post, I was able to type the next post without issue.

It is annoying but simple to fix by going back and adding the spaces after I've finished typing. I would guess it is a WYSIWYG issue but that would be a total guess on my part.

run mbam, adwcleaner, jrt, rkill, rougekiller, all on a regular basis...

Watch out for browser sync too, you'll get that crapware on every device. Best to keep one toy not setup to sync if you have a preference to browse the odd site or few.

unplug that backup USB drive to avoid any potential ransomware infection...

... I'll stop now.

Lol. Spend as much time maintaining your computer as you do using it :)

Or just switch to Linux/Mac and run one scanner that is likely not even needed.

Unless you are like me, and have to have Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices to cross test a bunch of software. But then again, even on my windows machine, one scanner seems to do it for me... but I only use it for work and am 'in the know'.

Most of my daily browsing is on Linux, and the rest is on Mac. Maybe 0.01% is from Windows when I just happen to be working on that device.

only get to use Linux VM's on my own gear for serious work.

Until this past September I had completely dumped Windows. Then I had to install ArcGIS and it really doesn't run well in a VM on lower resource machines. So a separate drive with Win10 just for ArcGIS and I can't wait until this semester is over. The drive comes out of my regular laptop and my Mint Linux drive goes back in until late January.

The issue seems to be completely random. Sometimes refreshing the page corrects it, other times if you go to advanced editing mode it corrects it. Cussing seems to help intermittently, although this is tough to gauge as the cussing is relatively constant.

This is my experience as well.

I've found that there has to be at least one character at the end the the text for spaces to work.

FYI, the chrome dev tool inspection shows some errors in the page code for the thread (uncaught typeerror against a google api) . I'm not a coder so it doesn't mean much to me and could be unrelated, just thought I would point it out.

Not just the first reply for me. Have to put in a character before using the space bar.

Seems to be OK now as I type this reply.

Mind PM'ing me the fix or link to a known issue? I participate in another board that is having the issue and the admins seem to be struggling getting it resolved.

There is an incompatibility with new versions of Chrome and CKEditor whcih is used in VBulletin 4 (and possibly other board software). Even with the hundreds of dollars everyone gives VB all the time, they refuse to support vB4. Only vB5, which has drastic changes... so much so many board maintainers (like myself) don't want to switch to vB5. Its almost a facebook/twitter type feel instead of a traditional forum. I'm sure we can modify it to feel more inline with the current experience here, but thats a bunch of work...

I did my own tweaks to make it work for our theme and my personal preferences, but the gist of possible fixes is here: (https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-4/vbulletin-4-questions-problems-and-troubleshooting/4356452-space-bar-not-working-on-reply)
