Browning Hi Power Gurus?

What can you tell me about the Mark II? Faults, function, value? 'Tis a pretty thing regardless.

Browning Hi Powers are of the highest quality.

The Mark II with the ridge on the top of the slide was made only a few years from about the early 1980s to about 1988. The Mark II had ambi safeties, dot sights and importantly the barrel ramp was changed to better handle hollow point bullets. The Mark III had a firing pin "safety" and later a cast frame to handle the .40 S&W.

The Mark II has a 32 lb main spring which makes the trigger pull heavy. I like to replace them with a 26 lb spring from Wolff. I also like to remove the magazine disconnect. Those two changes make a huge, huge difference in trigger pull.

Value depends on condition and adjustable vs. fixed sights. There is no premium for a Mark II vs. earlier or later versions.

okay, the Browning and the the .45 are the same "hi-power"ed, but the Browning still has superior round capacity. So thats why Ill take it and not the .45.

I like the Hi Power. It may be old tech, but it has an appeal that only a fine firearm crafted of solid steel can have. It is the only 9mm my father would be caught shooting. He is a die hard .45 ACP guy. I plan to aquire one some day. Damn fine pistol.

An admirable goal. I still say no handgun feels as good in the hand as a Browning Hi Power.
