View Full Version : Veterans Day
Thank you to all that have served. From those who have passed to those still with us. You are not forgotten and your service is not taken lightly. Thank you for protecting our freedom.
Thanks to all the brothers & sisters. There is a special place in heaven for those who gave all. Thanks Dad, Ben, Bennet. Thanks to all who are serving today and in harm's way. Be safe.
And with everything going on in our country, especially those who are not proud of America and who say America was never great....a hearty thank you to all who ARE proud to be an American. Not just today, but every day.

Thank you to all our veterans and families.

This is excellent, well done. It was cool to call my son this morning and wish him (for the 13th time!) a Happy Veterans Day and thank him (kind of a constant thing haha) for serving.

I spent Veterans Day aka Armistice Day at the Auckland Museum and War Memorial. Next time we consider our casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan, consider this:
In 1914, New Zealand had a total population of just over 1 million people. From this, they sent 100,444 troops and nurses to World War I between 1914 and 1918.
Over 40% of men of military age served in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force fighting at Gallipoli or the Western Front.
16,697 Kiwis died and 41,317 were wounded in battle and 507 were killed in training by war's end.
Approximately another 1000 died within 5 years due to injuries sustained from the war.
That's almost a 60% casualty rate or roughly 1/4 of all men of military age from a very small country.
Every casualty is a tragedy but that kind of proportion is just staggering.
Very late to this thread. Thank you veterans for serving. Thanks to those who came before me, a special thanks to those who served during the time I should have enlisted myself, and thank you to those yet to serve.

On this day (and a lot of other days) I think of my father, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that served in the armed forces and fought for freedom against the evil that still seeks to consume us. Some died, some came home, all left something on the field of battle and some brought the nightmare home. Every one of them served with honor and heroism.
Many of you here have served, are now serving or have family serving in the armed forces and I honor you and yours for the sacrifice that you have and are willing to make for the rest of us. Thank you just doesn't seem to say enough.
May God Bless you all, past, present and future for your dedicated service. You are in our prayers every night.
Thanks to all who served. Better days are ahead hopefully !
Hopefully better for the all of us.
