View Full Version : Anti-gun movie coming out

"Miss Sloane" starring Jessica Chastain. She plays a high powered D.C. lobbyist taking on the "powerful" gun industry. I guess Hollywood feels it's not p.c. to have accurate portrayals of the real evil minds out there so let's go big time to vilify the firearm industry-again.

Considering the production time involved in making a film I can only assume the folks in Hollyweird felt it was a forgone conclusion HC would win. I hope it does poorly at the box office.

It's too bad there aren't Conservative film studios. Or one. I'd take one.

I'd like to see Miss Hudak made into a film. It's about a state senator who celebrates rape as a necessary evil to affirm the governments exclusive right to intervene in criminal acts and make all animals equal. She teams up with a serial rapist (Clinton) in Washington and author (Sanders) who says women fanaticize about being raped so it's no big deal.

Call it The Odds are Against You.

Since I like happy endings, I'd make sure it ended with lots of defense gun uses and lots of dead rapists.

Leftist Hollywood is planning an all out propaganda assault on the 2A in the coming year.

http://johnrlott.blogspot.com/2016/11/hollywood-begins-massive-assault-on-gun_26.html

Should be just about as effective as all the Bush Derangement Syndrome anti-war agitprop flops they put out in the early aughts.

I have been following this production for a while and the fun part is that it was rejected by all of the hollywood studio... This is a Europacorp production and will probably do well overseas. So far it made 63k here inthe US and will most likely be off theaters in the next 2 weeks.

Hudak was fugly enough that maybe She fantasized about rape. Skanky political whore.. As for Jessica Chastain; too bad she's in that movie that I'll never see. I liked her skinny, pale, redhaired..mmff. damnit.

I just spent the last 2 weeks with 15 liberals (half from UK/Ireland/Canada, half from the East or West Coast). Mostly nice people but the arrogance in their anti-Trump, anti-gun talk was just funny. I mostly kept my mouth shut but just had to interject, "you know most of these shootings you're talking about occur in supposed 'gun-free' zeons, don't you?" when they talked sneeringly about America's gun culture. The confused looks and pause in the conversation as they had to process actual facts was hilarious.

Well, you can't say they haven't been doing all they could to make it a fait accompli, pushing TV shows like Madame Secretary to confuse the facts of Hillary's incompetence and corruption with the fiction of a capable Secretary of State who just happens to be ethical and highly competent, or with having celebrities whoring themselves out all year long.

The timing, for their part, could have been flawless but the sure-thing didn't pan out as planned.

Just imagine: hillary takes office, anti-gun movie, mass shooting = "we must do something, for the children!".

But, whoops, things didn't quite go as planned. There must be some very disappointed investors who pumped millions into a movie that will hopefully flop badly.

The Democrats deserve a round of applause for this move, because it's brilliant. How many documentaries, or even movies based on real events, have caused millions of people to form opinions on subjects they would otherwise not care about at all? Social pressure is THE way too effect large scale scale change. Most people don't smoke today because of the negative stereotype, not because of laws. Same with drinking and driving, racism, abortion, gay marriage, etc. Change the way people feel about something and they'll change the behavior on their own. Anti-gun people can easily out maneuver pro-gun people once they get their act together.

Look at pro-gun initiatives like bring a douchebag and open caring a rifle all over town. That's a total fail compared to reforming people's opinions on the safety of their homes during a two hour movie. This is very frightening.

ZERO THEORY
11-28-2016, 21:10
Saw the trailer a while ago. A blatant piece of fiction about the non-existent supah dupah gun lobby. Thank God Hilary didn't win, or this is just the type of propaganda that would encourage anti-2A legislation from the uninformed constituency.

so this movie will be made by hollywood douchebags who regularly make films glorifying gun violence and violence of all kinds.. and we are supposed to take them serious?

So from a liberal mindset...

Movies that glorify violence, movies that desensitize the masses to violence, movies that use firearms in unsafe ways are good and the people who make them are good.
The NRA and Lawful gun owners are bad because we use firearms in safe ways, teach safety, and stand up to violence. So we are bad according to libs.

Nail. Head.

Jim Carrey (the Canadian) had the nerve a few years back to lambaste us for being, and I quote, "Heartless motherfuckers," and "maniacs." Did he donate the money he received for doing Kick Ass 2 (the film he distanced himself from for its violent content)? Nope. Just went on a Twitter rampage about us, and sat on his millions. How about Matt Damon saying, "We need to evolve," and enact gun control? He made sure to discourage violence by making films like Jason Bourne, where an international off-the-books assassin runs amok shooting, exploding, and stabbing everything in sight.

The irony is killing me.

Except for the fact that 4/5 of their movies glorify gun usage in some way. But to hear them talk, it's only fun and games and "has no impact on people". But when a movie is viewed as inspirational, it "has the power to change lives". SMH

Don't forget all libraries had inter - library loan.

A lot of folks don't realize what amenities their local Library offers. From simple things such as children's reading hour to DVD (blu-ray and standard) and laptop rentals. That's if anyone remembers what Libraries do, anymore ;)

It’s a great show. We stream our TV/movies with our Roku, but we were worried about running into the same problem of the shows suddenly disappearing from lineups. We buy our DVDs and BluRays from Walmart, so we can watch them when we want.

My wife, who is at best semi-benevolently apathetic to firearms, action movies, and/or monosyllabic actors, thinks 'John Wick' is one of the finest movies of the last ten years. The only way I can even think of articulating the level of disconnect in this would be if Ray1970 and HBARLeatherneck got together to host a COAR movie night and both discovered their favorite movie is 'The Devil Wears Prada'. It's that kind of does-not-fit.

Unfortunately, I expect this movie will do well at the box office as the foaming-at-the-mouth regressive liberals assuage their hurt feelings and dream of what could have been if people would have just forgotten Hillary is an incompetent corrupt egomaniac. The Euros, New Yawkers, and Commiepornians who talked sneeringly of America's gun culture on my recent vacation need something to feed their bile and I think this movie might be it.

It'll play for a couple of weeks on the coasts, probably barely show up in theaters in flyover country, and will be just about either side of breaking even.

The best they can hope for are a couple of Oscar wins for bring "so brave."

Kind of reminds me of during the Bush years every few months another movie would come out painting our soldiers as either psychopathic killers and rapists or else dumb-as-dirt dupes. AFAIK every one of those movies bombed at the box office.

I'm imagining some studio executives sitting around a table and saying "We can't figure out why Mr. and Mrs. middle America don't want to shell out fifteen bucks to watch movies that portray their sons and daughters as either monsters or idiots." [facepalm]

So, only about 60% of the reviews on rotten tomatoes like the movie, and even a lot of the positive reviews refer to the protagonist as unlikable.

I stand by my prediction. If it makes money, it'll be just barely, and it'll have a short theatrical run in flyover country.

A year from now it'll be about as fondly remembered as The Trigger Effect.

I thought this thread deserved some closure.

It opened in 11th place this weekend behind several 6 week old movies. Even though it was a somewhat limited release its average per theater was still pretty low.

$1,844,972 weekend gross. $1,120 theater average.

Even though nobody wanted to see the movie it will still get a nice Hollywood pat on the back when award season rolls around.

EDIT: Box Office Mojo has it listed as its 3rd weekend out but this was the movie's wide release.
