Let me start by saying this is my own dumb fault for not reading the contract thoroughly. I'm an idiot.

Be careful signing up with Waste Management. When I bought my Granite business last September, we signed up with them for dumpster service. The term of the contract is 3 years, and there is NO way to get out of it. It automatically renews if you don't give written notice of termination within a specified window of time. They will not allow me to give cancellation notice now (though I do have it on the calendar on my phone).

None of that would be too awful if they could provide the capacity we need. Unbelievably, they've told me repeatedly that I can't get a larger dumpster. I can have them empty my current dumpster twice a week at triple the cost, but that's my only option.

I have to suffer for being a dope, but I hope I might save someone else the same aggravation.

I am not sure about business trash pickup with Waste Management. But their rates for residential pickup is triple the cost of others here in Parker. I use to have them but they kept increasing their rates little by little every billing cycle until it was way out of hand. I finally called them out on it and they basically said, it is what it is. So I switched to a local trash pickup provider and enjoy only paying 1/3 the price.

Waste management pulled that crap here. Now they want our business back. Not going to happen.

I used to know a guy that had worked for WM. He had some stories. He always pissed on their dumpsters whenever he had the chance, had no love for that company. I'm not sure who our trash co. is here in Parker, might be WM, but the cost is part of our HOA dues.

I have a medium sized Wm contract at work. We dictated the terms and it was a bitch to get them to agree to 1 year contracts. They barely do there job. We finally got a decent driver so that helps

I had WM residential service for years and they were really good about picking up anything we put on the curb. Then the rates gradually went up, until this last year where they switched to quarterly billing at an outrageous cost. I switched to ProDisposal which has negotiated pricing with Highlands Ranch. I'm now paying almost 1/4 what WM wanted to charge me. I thought they just wanted out of the HR market, but it sounds like they've lost their collective mind everywhere.

Will never use WM again.

I lived in a rental years ago. WM had a set fee and the homeowner paid monthly. At some point WM changed the monthly fee by a couple of dollars. Homeowner didn't catch the change and continued to pay the old amount. Four months later she gets a call from a collection agency. $10 behind and WM turns her over to collections?! She paid the difference to WM and canceled the service on the spot.

A$$holes!

Us too!

The 2-4% WM increases didn't bug me. The $12/quarter increase did.

ProDisposal has been excellent, they've never missed a day. Even on bad weather days they will still show up, even if super late, to pick up. WM used to miss days all the time or skip the recycle (on a recycle day). I used to never tip the trash guys but I've started tipping our ProDisposal guys.

Same here. Had WM since all the neighbors used them in the culdesac. They switched to quarterly pricing and slowly jack the rates up because of "the cost of disposal went up for them" that is what they told my wife anyway. We got the same response as others "deal with it or go elsewhere" so we did and all but 2 of our neighbors did as well. Now mostly everyone in the area has Packman or Western for 1/3 the cost and they don't jack the price up every few months.

So what are the good choices for Colorado Springs area versus WM?

I use Springs Waste. I think they've changed rates on me once in 6 years. They collect quarterly and even called me to let me know there was a problem because I had set up my payments monthly (i.e., they alerted me to the overpayments).

I dumped WM also and went with a local company. Chaffee Waste and Teller Waste are the same company and are great to deal with. Their rates are cheaper off the get go plus I get a free month if I pay by the year. Another plus is a very nice lady answers the phone without having to go through a dozen prompts.

Bestway has always been great for us, for over 10 years. If I forget to put the can out, they'll either get it themselves if its outside, or knock on the door if it was in the garage.
