Any recommendations on gas forced air furnaces? Buying a house and the current 40 year old furnace needs to go. Current furnace is a Rheem.

Are all the major brands pretty comparable? Costco has a deal on Lennox furnaces. Anyone have experience with buying through Costco? What others should I be looking at? Also looking for HVAC company recommendations who work in the Arvada area.

Him or Brycom http://www.valleyhvacr.com/

They're both qualified good guys, either one will take care of you.

If you're not capable of doing the actual install just let the hvac co provide a quote with parts and labor save yourself a bunch of headache.

Either of the coar15 guys are good to go

Definitely not planning on installing myself. Just looking for some data on the different brands/HVAC companies.

My A/C went balls up last year I decided to replace it and my 16 year old furnace in a package deal. Ended up going with similar efficiency A/C we don't run it much and it worked just fine. But my furnace I upgraded to one of the super efficient models with stronger fan. We keep the fan going all day to keep the air circulating. I really noticed the amount of dust that accumulates has gone way down (three dogs, lots of dander). Rooms are more evenly warmed/cooled. Better filters keep the furnace cleaner as well. Cost's less to heat and cool than the original equipment put in by the home builder. Carrier furnace is what we went with. Between that and replacing my windows it has proven to be much more comfortable in the summer and winter.

Goodman is what was recommended to us and installed. It's treated us well for 10+ years. Finally had a failure to startup and it was just a pressure sensor, few bucks at the local supply house.

Most of your HVAC guys are going to have one, maybe two brands that they sell. If they are reputable, it will be a decent brand and they likely know which models to avoid in the line.

Have Trane furnaces, but do not like their AC units so I had my HVAC guy get me Amana (Goodman is the same, just different warranties) and better line-sets.

We use Valley Heating and Air at my work and they do outstanding work.

Most major brands are created equal. The biggest factor is proper sizing and installation. I am not the biggest fan of Goodman/Amana but that's just my opinion and what I've seen. But I've installed all the brands. Whoever you use, make sure they are licensed, insured and pull a permit for the install. That's the only way to protect yourself against improper installation and potential insurance and home resale issues.

Unfortunately most of the people in the industry just go off the size(btu's) of the old unit and derate. Most people don't know how to, and or are to lazy to do a manual j heat log calculation. Most furnace and ac failures are caused from improper install and maintenance.

Truth.

I am working a case right now with premature failure, no permit or license. Warranty denied, Insurance denied, lawsuit filed. PITA for the homeowner.

I condemned a furnace yesterday with a cracked heat exchanger on a 8 year old furnace because it was installed improperly. Labor is not covered under warranty, heat exchanger may or may not depending on if they determine its neglect or whatever.

There's a high cost for cheap work.

For what it's worth I've had Hghclsswhitetrsh in multiple homes working on AC and Furnace issues and the man is a true professional. He even installed the new furnace in the home I'm living in now and I absoluty trust him (BTW it fired up fine this year and is warm and toasty!).

I Haven't done business with The other member here that does Hvac but know through others here that I respect and trust he is a good dude and a pro aswell.

Since Mazin has vouched for hghclsswhitetrsh based on his experience, I will share my experience with bryjcom. Brian replaced our gas heater and electric hot water heater a couple of years ago. He was fast, effiicient, and affordable. Showed up when he said he would and did a very nice job at a fraction of the prices I was quoted by our neighborhood plumbing company. Later that year, our plumbing company conducted a free inspection and even they were impressed with the work done by Brian. The inspector admitted that they couldn't have touched the price I paid for the work Brian completed.

Like most jobs, it is simple if you know what you are doing. I have no hesitation in recommending Brian. He knows what he is doing.

Just a suggestion, call both and pick the one who can do the job when you want and at the price that suits you.
