View Full Version : Road Rage -New Orleans: Former NFL Player Killed, Suspect Released
Anyone see this yesterday?
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/12/02/man-accused-killing-ex-nfl-player-joe-mcknight-released-from-custody.html
Yesterday, initial reports were that the random guy and the football player got into a road rage thing which ended in the random guy supposedly standing over the football player and yelling at him while shooting him several times as the football player was trying to apologize...
Now today the random guy is released. Surprising I suppose, given the initial accounts, but now I already see people crying racism and how guns are bad. I am actually wondering if both parties here will turn out to be black since usually the media tries to sensationalize this type of situation and make sure it is known that the random guy is white, so far that has not happened.
Either way, it sounds like the police saw through the accounts of the so called witness at this point, but the left is going to jump all over the slivers of reports that fit their agenda. Be interesting to hear the facts of this story when they come out.

Shocker!!! I would have bet money otherwise... Wonder why CNN isn't running with this? Still busy consoling themselves over the election perhaps?

White dude wasn't charged that's probably why it's not all over the news.

Huh?
Random guy being white and released is why I figured this would be all over the MSM. Why it is not yet is beyond me. MSM is notorious for running with partial facts to rile up the crowd. Just read some off the comments in the news links. Everyone is taking the witness accounts for the facts except the people who are doing the investigation.
I heard a blurb about this over my morning OJ. I heard he was killed, shooter stayed on scene, handed over his gun, etc. I figured based on those facts alone, the shooter was justified or felt justified.

Let me guess, someone assaults somebody the street, gets shot in return. Press tries to create a crime by gun owner. More sensationalism. I just read the headlines anymore. If I start assaulting someone on the street, I expect the possibility that I can be shot. Ex NFL player wins Darwin Award.
So far there are not enough facts known by the public or media to make any real judgement of who started what or is at fault. All we have is one guy is dead due to gun shot wounds, and the other guy has talked to police and has been released.
Combine this thing with the Charleston verdict that is about to drop as not guilty, and I suspect we are in for a night of riots somewhere in the next day or two.

Latest news states that the shots were fired from the drivers seat, and the dead guy was at the passenger window. 3 casings were still in the car. Moral of the story, don't be an intimidating jackass, you may be shot.
And people are calling the "stand your ground" law crazy and absurd. How about you just dont threaten people?

This sounds far more plausible than the football player apologizing before random guy stood on top of him and emptied his gun into the football player. But hey that is what an unnamed witness saw.

Since when has that mattered?
Now he has been arrested.

It's going to be interesting what a jury thinks about this. Road rage gone bad but if you get out of your car and approach another car, you could perceive that as a threat, especially considering the actions leading up to this. Also, with a gun in Joe's car, there's no knowing if he brandished it while driving before they stopped. If he had, that may be why Gasser was quick to pull his. That is something the witnesses would have no idea about and completely changes the situation, IMO. The young football player approaching a 54 year old guy is also an interesting dynamic. So many things.
Again, it will be interesting to see what happens in court.
Lesson here....road rage isnt worth it. Let it go.
That is what I am wondering too. Did Joe brandish his weapon before they got to the place where the incident happened.
Also, the shooter had been involved in a prior road rage incident where he punched someone so that does not look good for him.
Road rage is icky. I wish people would just calm down and drive safely.
