Smart man I was took no cash or credit cards into the store .... Every ammunition shelf and all the reloading components were stocked completely. That is the first time I have seen it this way in years. Probably a result of election results and Christmas coming up.

these two cans would have cost me $720 so the pricing is still out of whack.

That pricing actually isn't that bad. Greek HXP from the CMP is $136 for 200 rounds and that's mixed lot loose rounds in old cans. The Hornady M2 equivalent is $150 for 100 rounds or $286 for 200 rounds in boxes, not ammo cans. S&B is cheaper of course, $115/120 or $320/400 rds. Federal M80 is $79/100 rds or $150/200 rds.

Yeah but, mil-surp .30-06 for our M1 and Springfields is somewhat in demand by those of us that need to feed these old battle rifles. I prefer to pay around $.50 a round but that is getting harder to find and some guys that have it for sale think it is gold or something. I hate to say it but if I had the spare change, I would have bought that .30-06. I can't have too much ammo for the M1. The best deal I ever got was a trade of 1500 rounds of 9 mm range ammo for 1000 rounds in clips of S. Korean from 1958. I still have some of it, quite good to shoot, accurate but corrosive.

See any H4350?

There was a vendor at the gun show in Laramie last Saturday that had singles and kegs of H4350. Singles were $29 and I think the keg was $199. Probably not helpful, but figured I'd pass it on.

I was in Cabelas a week or two ago and it was awesome to see all the ammo. Everything was stocked and full.

Thanks. Laramie isn't too far out and I have a bunch of friends who live there. So that actually is pretty helpful.

I know it wasn't the point of your post. Just figured I'd ask since I've been on the hunt for some the last few days.

That's good stuff too and pretty hard to find locally. I'm impressed!

Wondering if fully stocked ammo and reloading may be more of a common sighting since there is no scare of a demonrat in the big house anymore. But usually Cabela's is a lot higher priced in store than other places. I am usually most surprised when Sportsman's is fully stocked. Every time I am there it seems they have empty shelves of reloading items and certain calibers.

So where do you source your Mil Std M80-rated from? We'll leave aside the M2-rated rounds as the HXP is quite old and coming from odd lots. Of course, we may be talking apples and oranges here as much of the CMP ammo (like the Hornady) is designed and produced for match competition.

There's plenty out there. In some cases shipping may bring you slightly over $0.60/round, but it doesn't take long to shop around.

Fuck Cabelas

I went in there tonight looking for something for the kid. I saw a used Savage BA110 in 308 on the used rack.
$1799.00!
WTF? That's a NIB price for the 338.

That sounds like Gander Mountain pricing...
