I agree with Fergie^^^, we've been watching Robotech and the reboot of Voltron on Netflix.
Amusingly enough, I watched all 80+ episodes of Robotech earlier this year while I was working in Texas. For a product of the 80s, it had more death in one episode then 7 seasons of 'GI Joe'.

Despite the show trying to blaze a trail for female leads, you can tell that there is a pretty decent story there, just poorly executed.
