View Full Version : PMC X-Tac Accuracy degraded?
Anyone been noticing new lots of PMC X-Tac 62gr accuracy being degraded? It used to shoot ~1MOA out of our guns and we've noticed lately it's opened up to ~2-3MOA.
Just wondering if we got a bad lot or if South Korea is sending the US 2nds or something.

Better chance you forgot how to shoot.

two different people, on two different rifles, that have no other problems with other ammo in terms of deviation from baseline accuracy? No.

For the all around AR's, I'm still working on 55gr SA battle packs ;) Keeping the FNM 147 .308 packs for a rainy day.

Yes; the time output required for loading is unbalanced with savings. 1k rounds on a forster co-ax = more time than it takes me to work to afford 1k rounds of factory ammo. Money = proxy for time and labor, and therefore the relationship of time and labor having a money value means it's cheaper for me to buy ammo rather than reload it -- at least as far as .223 is concerned.

Be glad to sell it to you :)

You couldn't get an amount that would be worth it, so you should just give it away. To me.

Sounds like Shooters privilege there dude.

Only if you put it in a nylon sewed brass bag
I've got one with your name on it.

I didn't see anyone else ask, so I'll throw it out there: What was the twist rate of the barrels you were shooting it through? Have you ever shot other 62gr ammo at similar velocities through those 2 barrels?
I ask because I have a bunch of X-TAC 55gr and 62gr and all of it is ~1MOA in all of my guns except for the 62gr in a 10.3" barreled (1:7 twist) SBR. I have an RMR with a 9MOA dot on that gun, so I honestly don't know if the 2-4 MOA accuracy I get from it is a product of the barrel's length and twist or a combination of the chosen optic, short barrel, my abilities, etc. Just something to think about that may be a factor.

It could be from a entire host of reasons from flash hider has to much copper and carbon build up to PMC had a bad lot. Or you forgot how to shoot[Sarcasm2]

For what it's worth, I was lent a handful of these at a range by a forum member. Shooting it out of my BCM 12.5, it was shooting about 4 MOA. I afterwards immediately shot a 1 MOA group with some Mk262 clone.
This barrel notoriously hates anything other than 75/77 gr, but I was surprised to see the result with what had been described as 1 MOA all day ammo. Maybe a bad batch is out there, or the manufacturer changed?
