Grilled pork chops and shrimp. Cutting my own chops. Didn't want a traditional meal this year. No family except wife and kids. Gonna have some friends over for lunch. Used to have lefse as a kid. A friends mom made it for special occasions. Hadn't had it again til we moved out to the western slope. Some friends here have a tradition of making lefse every winter. Good stuff.

Finished up the payroll for my department and we closed up early. Went Walmart for a couple of last minute gifts, stopped by the liquor store for some egg nog additive and headed home. The wife and I had supper, wrapped up some presents and watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (my all time favorite Christmas movie), then watched A Christmas Story (my second favorite Christmas movie) and the wife went to bed. Then I watched STar Trek, listened to some Christmas music and then signed on here to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.

Just finished up a movie with the family and finished prepping for the Christmas morning brunch food items. First time we're trying this. Parents are coming over and we have multiple breakfast items planned.

Baked french toast casserole type thing, good bacon from whole foods baked in the oven, a few other items I'm not sure of. It's the wife's plan. :)

Got a 4 bone beef rib roast in the oven that just crossed the 100* internal temp. It was supposed to go in the smoker but the winds here in Westminster were messing with the flame on my propane smoker and it was hard to maintain a consistent temp inside. Mashed potatoes, dressing, steamed asparagus, cranberry jelly and crescent rolls are all getting underway.

We lost power about an hour ago. This wind is incredible.

Blessing in disguise though. Showed the kids where the black out kits are, fired up some lanterns and candles and chilled for a little while playing with toys. They just went to sleep exhausted after the mayhem of the day.

The United Power guys just stopped by to ask me where the lines are when I was outside checking for downed trees and stuff....they said they are from the plains and "kinda lost". In their defense, Google maps is woefully incorrect up here and it looked to me like that's what was overlaid on their line maps on his laptop, so not their fault. Lots of "roads" on there are really overgrown trails. Luckily, the lines are a few hundred yards from my house so I sent him down the right trail.
