LWRC REPR won't fire when cold

The last two times I've taken my repr out it has had issues firing. Both times it was < 20 degrees. I have completely cleaned the bcg. It kind of seems like there is moisture in the firing pin channel, but it's odd that the issue happened after I cleaned and oiled it. Once I get a round to fire I have no issues. Could it be something else or do I need to figure out how to remove any moisture that's in the bcg (if there is any).

Be sure the FP and FP channel is bone dry. Cold oil turns to sludge and slows up the FP where it does not have enough energy to light off the primer.

Would this hold true with something like a graphite lubricant?

So the first round isn't touching off? How is the firing pin impression on the primer? Is the gun in-battery?

Assuming light primer imprint, are you oiling the firing pin? It should have a light coat, if any at all. Water doesn't ordinarily get in the channel, but one of the few places it would be appropriate to use WD40 would be for Water Displacement if you think it's in there.

If you have solid primer imprints, I'd be inclined to blame ammo.

If the gun isn't making it to battery, be thankful. Forward assist for immediate resolution, then clean and oil when you get home. Contemplate a combination of a new buffer spring, cleaning, and using a lighter oil.

The firing pin is striking. And it is in battery. The pin may have a tiny bit of oil but not much. I thought it was ammo too but it's only the first few rounds. I pulled the pin yesterday. Wiped it off and put it back in and no issues.

I'm heading out in an hour to go shoot agai.mn and it's in my frozen car right now so we will see if we have the same issue. I ordered a new pin after the last issue but left it in CO (on vacation in Neb now).

I'll update you later today to see if I have the same issues.

What lube? What ammo? Any aftermarket parts in the lower reciever, new trigger, hammer etc?

Ammo may be cold sensitive? Try warming it up before shooting. Eliminate variables.

Yeah sorry. I pulled the pin and completely clean and degreased the channel. I've had no issues. I used to use grease and not oil. The grease turned into butter in the cold. I have promptly cleaned and OILed all my firearms.

Try tw25 if you like grease, it stays viscous below freezing
