Getting ready for Duck!

So, I am taking the plunge into hunting this year. Got a bird gun, Stoeger M2000. Mom got me waders and a coat for my birthday. Hunter safety class on Oct. 15th, ducks beware that Saturday. If I run low on dog food I will shoot a goose or two. I may also go to Nebraska for a deer later.

+1 on Duck & Goose Season. Going to try to hit opening for Pacific flyway and Central / Foothills this year again.

I am pissed that I didn't jump on hunter safety earlier. Now that is the only class I have time and it is not for 3 more weeks!

So, I went out for opening day. I still don't have my hunter safety (next week) so I didn't shoot. We went to Wellington Ponds. We got there about 3AM and got all set up. Put the decoys out, played with the dog to settle her down, drank coffee. A little before the magic time my buddies got in the water and I took control of the dog. At the magic minute all I heard were duck calls and tons of shooting. I didn't see a single duck, though. Nothing flew over us. The only thing out there were these black ducks they say aren't worth shooting. So, I basically froze my @$$ off for 6 hours and have nothing to show except this post. I will have my tag next weekend and may try it then.
