View Full Version : Photoshop help
My wife just got a new 4runner and wants to delete the chrome on it. Can someone please make the chrome on the lower part and around the fogs white and the upper chrome and emblem black. Thanks!

How do you plan on painting it? Plastidip? That about all that sticks to plastic chrome.
I can always wrap it in some 3m black vinyl. I'd have to look at one to get a price idea. I wrapped my Tacoma with white vinyl, I'll see if I can find a picture.

Yeah I was gonna plasti dip the lower chrome section white with their pearlizer and the top section of chrome black. I've considered vinyl but not sure if it would stick out like a sore thumb, white vinyl against the pearl white paint? Thoughts?
I'd say stick with one medium for this. Also, vinyl can be a problem with the road gunk (vectorsc's vinyl wrapped vehicle didn't do well after 2 Colorado winters)

So can plastidip. Depends on the quality of vinyl.

I don't think you will get the white to match and it won't look right. I'd just do it all in black.

So the white (slightly off color) piece that sits directly against the black mess grill is wrapped in 3m 1080 white vinyl. it was plastic chrome, I'm anal about matching, I haven't had a single person notice unless I tell them. This is a 2016 Tacoma in white.

The black hood scoop it matte black vinyl, I'm lazy and do drive through car washes, it's held up fine since last April. I work at DIA, so my truck sees more mag chloride than most.
Yeah that looks great! One reason I might try plasti dip is they have a pearlizer that may get the white closer to match the white pearl paint. If not, I'll just peal it off. If I went with an SR5 or Trail I'd vinyl wrap as the paint is Super White and the Limited is Pearl White.
Quick update. Took advantage of this 80° weather and plasti-dipped the front of my wife's 4runner. Several coats of white, several coats of pearlizer and some coats of the glossifier and it almost matches perfect! Looks better than the chrome by far!

Wow, that does match almost perfect, and it does look way better than the chrome.
