I hope Trump kills these programs and returns the military to their purpose of defending the nation, not the environment.

And fire every officer that puts environment before country or those that dream up this BS.

I don't want a soldier worrying about this crap as they are fighting.

Kind of curious how they'll get depleted uranium biodegradable rounds

It says it's for the training rounds only. I'm interested in how the seeds will survive the high temps that firing these projectiles generates.

Could make farming more fun, just entrench a howitzer on your farm and fire air burst rounds at your fields until they are covered.

The Pentagon has more money than brains. The whole metro area is contaminated by Rocky Flats plutonium. Here is my local favorite,

The real problem is when the VA needs a bigger budget than the DOD. I am all for troop friendly and environmentally sound ammo. Carbon fiber wrapped synthetic diamond bullets with tungsten cores? OMFG

Thing is the EPA and other regulators require them to dig up their lead based ammo, so in reality biodegradable training ammo wouldn't be a bad idea.

Would rather just gut the EPA, but I can see where there might be a cost savings here.

But it does make me think of this:

I’m sure in 15 years we will need to pay for an environmental cleanup because the invasive “bullet plants” are taking over whatever area the military trains in, creating an eco-hazard for other plant species. Then they will change the bullet plants to flowers and the same hippies that started this whole thing will lobby Washington to have the military stop training and blowing up such beautiful “natural” wild flower gardens.

I don't really have an issue with this for training ranges only but any such ammo will need to be carefully marked and segregated to make sure it doesn't get mixed in with combat supplies. What really needs to end is the imperial tyranny of the EPA. They just issue edicts from on high like they were Moses with the stone tablets (but in this case they have 50,000 tablets and more than 10 commandments) with no regard to feasibility, cost, or constitutionality and it ends up in stuff like this.

There are already shotgun shells with flower seeds.

I don't see the big deal.

As Big E3 said, they'd have to create rounds for specific training ranges that don't introduce non-indigenous invasive plant species else they're just creating more problems. The rounds would have to be produced for each specific training location. Can't see how such a thing would save any money at all and the idea of the plants biodegrading the waste sounds more like a liberal wet dream than a realistic possibility.
