Hi, I'm new here and I'm new to AR-15s. I have tons of experience with other types of rifles, but want to do something different. What I'm doing is assembling what I call a modular platform. I plan to build a lower and then be able to switch out uppers for different purposes. One of the uppers I'd like to chamber in .204 Ruger for the purpose of varmint hunting. I have a Ruger model 1 in the same caliber and it works very, very well for praire dogs and coyotes. I think the semi auto capability of the AR would be a real asset, particularly while shooting praire (sp?) dogs. What do you guys think? Has anyone done this? What length of barrel, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know of a gunsmith in Pueblo West that has built a few ARs in 204 or 20 Tactical. Seem like pretty cool rifles. PM me if you want contact info.
