View Full Version : My Dental Appointment Gave Me A Great Smile...

No, not because I have beautiful teeth. But because of what I overheard while filling out the "new patient" paperwork.

I really liked my dentist, and especially the hygienist, in Conifer. It's been a year since a regular checkup and it's something I've been putting off since I've been here. Well, the procrastinating is over.

Last night I had a crown come loose. It needed to be replaced sooner rather than later so I went to the dental clinic my wife goes to after making an emergency appt this morning. Very nice, modern office with a very attentive and friendly staff.

So, I'm sitting (alone) in the waiting room filling out the new patient paperwork. There were about 7 women, all employees, of various ages behind the receptionist's counter. There were dental techs, admin types, office manager, a lady doctor, etc... And they were all talking about what types of rifles (and bows, too) they use for hunting, what factory ammo they like best and why, where to get the best deals on hunting gear and clothing, best calibers for a particular game...all the stuff you would typically talk with your male buddies about.

I was stunned. I listened and then interrupted the conversation and told them this was the best visit ever to the dentist. I was hoping the talk would evolve to pickups...but glad it didn't. I've invested too much into my marriage at this point and it would've been a tough choice as to which woman in the office I'd love the most!

Got my crown fixed and walked out with a great smile. Still have it.

No drugs. Just a bunch of women talking about guns and hunting. That was better than happy gas.

Oh wow!

That was me listening to the conversation!

Thank you. I didn't get it. I knew I was missing something...as usual. But now it's funny.

Ah, okay. I'm not sure if that is one of our accounts or not. We've got a couple up there and one of which is Aspen Dental so I thought maybe that was the one you were talking about.

I've spent a lot of time in Idaho, it really is a bit different, in a good way to my way of thinking.
