And here you go: Media pointing the story to make the CCW holder look like the bad guy for breaking the mall no gun policy.....lets ignore the fact that armed robbers killed someone and analyze the guy that reacted and made the robbers flee and broke the sacred no gun policy. What about the bad guys that brought guns in?

Stop making good sense ACE2GOOD; liberals minds must continue to devolve.
If the CCWer slowed or decreased the ability of the bad guys to project violence and harm people then he made a positive difference and (IMHO) is a hero. He likely saved some lives. RIP.
The attempt for media to blame him only reinforces what most of us know; the news is not "news" but Leftist propaganda. They would rather give a bad guy free reign to murder innocent people than admit their fail on gun control. Most of us also know why that is (political goals and such).
Is Texas like Colorado wherein the signs on a location basically mean nothing other than they can ask you to leave should they find out you have a CCW on you?

It appears that unlike CO, signs in TX carry force of law...
Do “No Gun Signs” Have the Force of Law?
“YES”
30.06(e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder
carries a concealed handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place
on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035. In order
to provide notice that entry on property by a license holder with a handgun is forbidden, Penal Code Section
30.06(c)(3)(A) Trespass By License Holder With a Concealed Handgun.
(a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder:
(1) carries a concealed handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, on
property of another without effective consent; and
(2) received notice that entry on the property by a license holder with a concealed handgun was forbidden.
(3) "Written communication" means:
(A) a card or other document on which is written language identical to the following: "Pursuant to
Section 30.06, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed
under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code handgun licensing law), may not enter this
property with a concealed handgun"; or
(B) a sign posted on the property that:
(i) includes the language described by Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish;
(ii) appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
(iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public.

Which leads to the next question (which we cannot answer here): did they follow this at the mall and can they prove he would have seen it?

No, Texas is not like Colorado, they have a legally binding sign format that gives the force of law behind the sign. Don't meet the format and then yes, it's like Colorado in that the signs don't have the force of law.
The must be a certain size, contain certain working and must be placed in certain places.

It also surprises me that a place in Texas actually has these signs up. Never been there but you always here how pro gun they are. Mall must be owned by someone out of state or something.

Despite the loud claims of many Texans, Texas is no utopia and has very little to offer anyone. Its appeal is largely based in nostalgia.

This.
As soon as Texas started allowing concealed carry in the 1990's the signs started popping up at lots of local businesses. I knew a lot of people who started boycotting those places.
Also, prior to the establishment of a concealed carry system, your home was pretty much the only place you could have a handgun was in your home. There was no open carry, no legal concealed carry, and having a handgun in your vehicle was a big no-no.
You guys are going to get me to defend Texas?
A lot of this is corporate policy (less Austin, of course). The corporate lawyers promote this thinking to reduce liability. That won't change until there is successful litigation on "gun free zones" and safety vacuums.
That almost happened to Century Theaters over the Aurora murders although "gun free zone" was never listed in the complaint. We had a good discussion here about that.

Anything that Texas could offer is better offered by Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, etc. Despite the many times I've been there, I've never been impressed by it. They're proud but I cannot tell what they're proud about in particular. They tend to beg the question.

Everything's bigger, including EGOS.
At another mall in SA:
http://patch.com/us/across-america/police-respond-possible-shooting-san-antonio-mall
SAN ANTONIO, TX — Police have responded to a possible shooting near the Ingram Park Mall late Tuesday morning, just two days after another local mall shooting resulting in a fatality and several injuries.
According to various media outlets, the call came in at about 11:33 a.m. amid reports of shots fired along the 6300 block of Northwest Loop 410. The San Antonio Express-News reports that police are now searching for two armed suspects who allegedly threatened to kill a mother and daughter outside the mall being firing shots and fleeing.
Free kill zones, aka "Gun Free Zones", are a risk to personal safety. Enter at your own risk. Personally, I'll go somewhere else where they apparently want my business.

I agree. As for everything's bigger. Next time you meet a Texan, tell them you're from Alaska.
Damn that concerned citizen for sticking his nose into a possible bloodbath! Now what will the media harp on for the next month? How will they sell ad space for fast food and rectal creams without blood in the headlines? [Shake]
