View Full Version : F1 suppressors just got more interesting
SD tactical got news from the ATF:
"The ATF came in for a "address change" verification and then told us that we must can not sell threaded tubes, or end caps with external threads. Our muzzle brakes are okay but that's about it. We can't even sell freeze plugs. But we will be selling completed suppressors for a really good cost so please stay tuned."
I wonder how this will play out.
More from the owner of SD tactical. He chimed in on the FB post:
"This is Darrell the owner. They told me I am selling suppressors. What I don't get is why they don't arrest me? If it was illegal what I did I should be arrested. They told me the tube is a suppressor part, the ends are a suppressor part and freeze plugs are baffles. They were not even sure if the company I get freeze plugs manufactured from could legally sell freeze plugs. The name of the company is freeze plug factory. Who would have thought a Freeze plug factory was selling suppressor baffles. It is crazy and we don't get it. We are getting a lawyer and seeing what our options. The ATF said my option is 5 years if I sell anything else. Any good Trump contacts out there?"

In preparation for picking up my new Gemtech, I was nosing around their website and reading their FAQ's (added the bold myself):
Can I order replacement parts from Gemtech?
No. Silencer parts are tightly controlled by the BATFE and individuals may not possess spare or replacement parts. Baffles, spacers, end caps, tubes, or other components deemed to be suppressor parts by BATFE cannot be sold to individuals or even other Class III dealers or Class II manufacturers. We can however, repair, replace, or upgrade every part of your suppressor except the serialized tube; but the suppressor must be sent in to Gemtech and damaged parts are destroyed in the process and not returned.
There goes most of the pipe fittings at any hardware store
Wait... so how does CTD sell those ridiculous fake "suppressors", then?

Hey now, it doesn't have to make any sense when the law is whatever you want it to be at any given time, and you can even redefine the language itself as you see fit....
Cuz...

This was posted by their facebook page 1 hour ago. It looks like this may be the end for them.
"As of today the ATF shut down our business of selling solvent traps. This is 99% of our income. They have put 3 Veterans, my wife and son out of work. They said I can't sell freeze plugs. NAPA can't even sell them to us because they are a suppressor part. They said all I can sell is complete suppressor's. That is what we do for now until I get some legal help to fight these vauge laws or opinions. The issue is NFA items. He said tubes and freeze plugs were suppressor parts. Would that mean if you have a shotgun and a hacksaw you have a sawed off shotgun? If you own a AR isn't that a potential SBR?
My plea for help is to make this Viral to the Trump admin, the Trump family and such. I have been put in the street over mindless opinions. I had talked to the ATF in the past and they had no issues. Today they shut us down. #Americandreamlost"
So I guess freeze plugs aren't replaceable in engine blocks anymore? As they're now interpreted to be a regulated suppressor part. There are some real bright individuals over there at the ATF.
I didn't know the ATF could interpret the law as they saw fit.

Jeez, I wish I got to make the rules up as I went through life like the ATF.
And I wish I wouldn't have put off ordering my latest D tube.
I don't know what you guys are doing with freeze plugs, but I drill a hole right through the center, then run a shoe string through, and wear them around my neck. I call it the ATF Candy Necklace.

They didn't. the issue is based on an agents interpretation (more than 1x) of something they don't know about. Search the "engraved" or etched sear debacle. Some agents have now interpreted an image on the receiver where the sear pin would be, as a machine gun.

HPA can't come fast enough.

Does this mean we can pay the IRS with pictures of money? As my son says, "hooray!"

Start a peition online for President Trump to use executive authority to immediately fire all ATF personnel and terminate all pensions, and get Breitbart to run a story on it (send them an email/letter with backstory). They have demonstrated that the agency as a whole is a direct threat to rule of law within the republic.
How is selling these any different than selling an 80% receiver and a parts kit?
Both require the end user to remove material to make the regulated device. Is it different since one must not ask permission to remove material from the 80% receiver, where as you must ask mommy may I to build a gun mufflers?
Silly Illogical gun laws. A muffler is harmless and requires permission to build, while a killing machine doesn't (and should never)
Same with (short barreled) hand guns vs SBRs. Both fire the projectile, but theyou regulate the one that's difficult to conceal...
I'm waiting for the coloring book v.2.0 response.

GREAT. 7 month wait for stamps that arrived. Now I can't get the parts I want. What next .gov[fail]
I better go out and buy a small block GM so I have something to go with this bag of untouched freeze plugs.

There's 1/2 doz places that offer pre-shaped storage cups in Al, SS & Ti. Like a FP all you need is finishing once approval arrives.

I think Colopatt was saying that the tubes, end caps and thread protectors were no longer available, not just the freeze plugs.
I know there are a few places but none as easy to deal with and plug and play as SDTA.
SD posted today that if you have an approved F1, you can order parts from them still.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!! got off the phone with the ATF and we got the go ahead to sell to people with completed F1, if you have a completed F1 you will be able to buy everything that we sold before. If you already have a tube it must be engraved MUST be done by a SOT (which we can do). Look on the site later today under the section F1 items. If SOTs want tubes we must engrave them with our company name, city state and serial number and also all your imformation. You will have to email us your completed F1 before we will be able to process your order for any item under that section. contact me or SD Tactical if you need more information. Also share this post and let the gun community know!

Correct nogaroheli. I based my collection off SD pattern to switch between all firearms. Not to mention my stamp dimensions are based on SD lengths. Just another PITA.
Anybody wants some freeze plugs meet me near the bike racks after school.
