Anyone here built a diesel or oil burning heat source for a foundry? Any designs or pointers that did/didn't work?
I'm going to put a foundry together that is capable of melting copper so I can pour ingots, other metals will be side projects, but copper is the main goal currently.
Just thought I would check.
Thanks

Interested.
I've built the small home foundry and using charcoal to melt down aluminum. I'd like something bigger and better. Just haven't put any effort into building anything.

Once I actually start building it, I will create a build thread, but that's going to be a week or two.
How Are you atomizing the fuel oil?

Thus far I think I will be using a heating oil siphon nozzle, at least for the first time around.
It uses ~20psi from a compressor, and gravity feed on the oil/diesel. Then a squirrel cage blower provides the actual "blast" portion of the furnace.
