On Thursday, authorities reported that one hostage was found dead inside the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center where prisoners revolted and took control of the facility. Police stormed the building around 5:30 AM Thursday morning.

From Fox News:

Delaware State Police breached Building C at James T. Vaughn Correction Center in Smyrna around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday where four corrections employees were taken hostage by an unknown number of prison inmates on Wednesday afternoon.

Two of the four prison employees were released within hours of the siege and a total of 46 inmates were released throughout negotiations between inmates and police. At least 82 inmates still remained in the building early Thursday.

A preliminary investigation suggests the disturbance began about 10:30 a.m. when a correctional officer inside Building C, which houses more than 100 inmates, radioed for immediate assistance, Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said. Other officers responded to help, and the employees were taken hostage, he said.

On Wednesday, guards at a maximum security state prison in Smyrna, Delaware were taken hostage by inmates at the facility. Authorities were originally called to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center for an apparent smoke issue in the building just before 11 AM. The prison, which has been placed on lock down, houses about 2,500 inmates, some of which are believed to be the state’s most violent. Emergency personnel from Delaware and Pennsylvania responded to the scene as it began in the late morning hours.

Prison spokeswoman Jayme Gravell said that the incident was isolated and there was no threat to the public.

“The inmates have taken over a building,” Rep. William Carson told Delaware Online.

Last night I got a notification from the scanner app on my phone that over 28,000 people were listening to New Castle, Delaware's channel. There were so many people on it that the stream wasn't working. Crazy stuff.

I read this morning that the prisoners were blaming Trump for the riot.

Yup, and now there are citizens outside the walls gathering in support of the inmates, absolutely disgusting. We are worse off as a nation than I thought.

Got lucky that only one Officer was killed. Still one too many but better than what I'd of expected from inmates.

Why not blame B. Hussein Obama? He pardoned more convicted prisoners than a dozen previous POTUS's combined. Why didn't he pardon these fucks?

Or because the President can't pardon state level offenders.

Did not know that. Good thing though or all the prisons would be empty.
