I'm looking for a new waterfowl shotgun for ducks, geese, and turkeys and wanting opinions on what everyone is using. Currently I shoot a Benellli Black Eagle but have used a Benellli Nova as well. What's everyone's opinion on the Remington Versa vs a Benellli Super Black Eagle? The Benelli cost twice as much but wondering if the fit and reliability of the Remington are still good. Have yet to handle one but will here very soon.

I don't have much experience with the versa max, I have shot a friends a couple of times. Good gun, but I don't like it as much as I do the Benellis. The only downside to the Benellis is the cost. Never had a problem with my Super Vinci out in the field that wasn't my fault. Check out the Vinci series to see if you like them more before you settle on the SBEII.

Cabela's is currently running a sale online on the SBEII limited edition if you were trying to buy anytime soon.

Here's a pretty nice side-side review of the two Benelli's. http://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/guns/gun-review-benelli-super-vinci-vs-super-black-eagle-ii/

Def handle and shoulder them all before deciding. I did both Benelli's and the Versa and the SBEII shouldered better for me and I preferred the trigger setup on the SBEII over the Super Vinci.

This. I had my heart set on a SBEII till I shouldered a Super Vinci. Bought the Vince cause it fits me much better.

I have used older Remingtons and Brownings through the years for duck and geese in freezing temps, ice, snow and mud and had lots of problems with jamming and cycle issues. I switched to a Benelli M2 in 2007 because my brother-in-law had one and started to out shoot me. Long story short, I am a life long Benelli fan now. I can lay in the dirt and mud, have my dog walk all over me trying to get her to lay down and still shoot the Benelli with mud and ice all over it. There are so many Benelli options now I would highly recommend staying with Benelli purely based on the reliability and shoulder and check features on all of them. I do not have any experience with the newer Remington's and other gas guns but I have never had an issue with a Benelli that forced me to look elsewhere.

I've always loved the feel and quality of Benelli's over everything else; plus they pull up perfect for me and I shoot them better than anything. Just wanted to see what else people have been using and liked. I'll probably end up sticking with Benelli's in the end.

The new SBEIII is the bomb. If I did not have too many shotguns right now, I would get one. They are as soft as the VersaMax. I have a VM and a V3 should be here anyday now, but I am seriously considering selling the VM and buying a SBEIII.

A VM "can" be a good waterfowl shotgun if you change out a few parts for Benelli replacements and cross-hatch (precision machine work) the chambers. Some also need the bore honed.

Old thread but looking hard at the new Remington V3 shotgun.

Mark: Any thoughts on the V3?
