What with Trump's shaking up of the DC establishment and the changes that are being made I began thinking of ways to streamline the US government. So please chime in with your own ideas, solutions, rants, comments, and contributions.

First up, why not reorganize the entire Federal Law Enforcement and Intelligence services into two agencies?

Law Enforcement Agency, (LEA):

1. Would be responsible for handling all enforcement of federal laws.

2. Replaces the DOJ, FBI, DHS and eliminates unnecessary redundancy within all sections without losing capabilities or valuable assets.

3. Keep all necessary personnel to continue to provide adequate law enforcement duties at home and abroad.

Intelligence Bureau Agency, (IBA):

Would gather Intel that would be shared directly to the LEA and any other written in vetted group or agency in the Nation.

1. Replace those agencies within the current 17 agency system we operate with that are unnecessarily redundant.

2. Subdivided into two main channels; intelligence gathering and counterintelligence.

3. Intake data and information from LEA as well as Local, County, and State Law Enforcement and produce actionable intelligence.

As long as the constitutionall rights of the American people are protected, bad guys stay out, and there are legitimate avenues for legal recourse when rights are violated, I don't see how this could be a negative.

Next time there's a.gov shut down and we hear how they are furloughing Non-Essential Personnel. Instead of giving them unpaid time off. Dismiss them, if they're non-essential, why are they even employed ?

We could also streamline the population in general, by Removing all WARNING: Labels and let nature run it's course

Everyone was furloughed the last time. Essential and nonessential. And it was unpaid time off. The only one that was paid was back in 96-97? and the nonessential were sent home for 2 weeks but then paid later.

Every time there has been a shut down over the past 30 years, I have been required to continue working. No one gets paid until the shutdown is resolved, and once it has been resolved, everyone receives back pay regardless of whether they worked or sat at home (non-essential). Essential workers get paid late and non-essential workers get a paid vacation.

There have been twice as many threatened shut downs as actual shut downs and shut downs are a political game of chicken between the Executive and the Legislature where the only real losers are the tax payers.

25% across the board cut in FTE for every government agency. Exempt uniformed military billets from these cuts. Accomplish the cuts through attrition. If the cuts aren't across the board, the cries of favoritism and discrimination will tie up the cuts for years and Congress will waffle out of making the cuts. Cut non-payroll spending of all government agencies, across the board by 50%. These cuts would remain in place until the federal debt was eliminated. The federal government takes in more money than it ever has. If we cut spending in a meaningful way, the debt could be eliminated within our lifetime. We owe this type of sacrifce to our children's children, who should not be required to pay the interest for our excessive spending.

Moving people around and renaming agencies is just a shell game and rarely results in streamlining. See 22 legacy agencies becoming DHS for example. The best method of streamlining IMO is don't create new agencies and eliminate non-essential agencies completely. This takes time and the Dept of Education, as an example will take decades to dismantle.

I wish the current President well in his efforts to reform government. It is a Sisyphean task.

Eliminate the FHWA. This agency along with the federal gas tax was meant to expire in the 1980s with the completion of the interstate building and the roads were to be turned over to the states to manage and maintain.

Repairing or expanding highways on the NHS requires environmental studies that take 5 plus years, require contracts that have contractors hire DBEs, require x% of the contract goes to job training, requires contractors to pay inflated union wages even in non union areas, ect.

At least 25% of highway spending is wasted through red tape and meaningless regulations.

The federal gas tax should be given to the states where they can keep, lower or raise it to pay their roads.

Anytime money goes to DC, it's value is decreased.
