3 grass fires in 3 days at the South Site boys and girls. All shooter related. Please use caution in these dry conditions. Bring water and fire extinguishers if you shoot.

Thank you.

I don't know. I know someone got a picture of the folks who started the fire and took off on Saturday. I think the police have contacted them.

I don't know about the other two fires.

Well at least they have a lead. Sad that some people don't want to take accountability for their actions.

Too bad there wasn't a COAR-15 Range or four, one North of Denver, one south, one east, and one on the western slope.

I hope those assholes resist so they get the beatdown they deserve.

I decided to join Ben Lomond last year after getting tired of dealing with crowds at the south site. I haven't looked back.

That said, fires can start anywhere. I think Pawnee had one yesterday too? Be smart out there.

The crowds at the South Site have grown considerably over the years. I am from Woodland Park and have seen it go from a semi-secret local spot to a place people drive an hour+ to get to and trash. That's a shame.

We should have our own range!!! With a bourbon/smoke lounge for after.

We could build a couple long lanes for those who like to stretch their legs.

Yup. I have family a little over a mile away as the crow flies. They are getting sick of the non-stop shooting and mess. Once the neighbors start getting sick of it, it's only a matter of time before it gets shutdown. Unfortunate as that is.

I was there the other day and saw a couple young men with a very young child shooting. They placed there targets at the base of a live tree. The young child was shooting unsupervised when I went to tell them they are killing the tree and it was illegal. They of course couldn't care less. Young child was maybe 9 and was clearly unsafe which the young men didn't care about. Ass holes destroying just to destroy.

I would like to believe I would have asked them politely, while getting video evidence on my phone. Had they continued the jack-assery, contacted the Rangers, handed over the video evidence and smiled as they recieved their citation and told to police up their area and pack up,(assuming the Ranger had a backbone and made it before they popped smoke).

A firefighter friend of mine posted on fb about the fires...said they were caused by tannerite/exploding targets.

Just as bad. Too many careless people out there.

I had wanted to do something like this, like buying up a few dozen acres up in NW Jeffco (near Coal Creek Canyon) and building a BLGC type area in the NW Metro area (since there really isn't any). Not sure if there is any suitable land for sale up there, nor do I think I could afford it or get approved for a small business loan to buy up the land. But the idea and desire is there- maybe have a go fund me to have an indoor/outdoor range with extreme distances (thinking 1,000M range for those to really test their skills, with a couple golf carts or ATVs to set up paper).
