Once the economic dividends of a Trump presidency start to come in you're going to see a repeat of 2004 when it comes to a presidential election (a very popular Republican president kick the living crap out of a sacrificial lamb the Dems will run because they don't want to waste one of their good candidates).

So if Hick gets picked by the D's, it'll mean they don't really like him.

Rationally, I agree with you, but I still can hope. The shadow government/deep state, whatever you want to call it, it too invested in their power and the true Conservatives are too busy doing life and work and stuff. Today's EO is a good start though.

I do think there is a good chance that the Ds are going to come up with 3 or 4 candidates, one of which will be the real 2024 candidate and use the 2020 as a dry run, and then a few bozos.

That kind of thinking is partially what got Clinton the Presidency. My friends from Arkansas said the only people they knew back home who would admit to voting for him for President claimed they did so to get him out of Arkansas.
