We're still moving into our new house but we have an issue we need to deal with sooner or later. Our neighborhood covenants don't allow us to park our travel trailer on the property unless it's behind a fence. Now, we knew that going in, so this isn't a surprise to us, and we're actually OK with it (the property has the perfect side yard with access straight out to the driveway, in fact, it's already partially graveled.) Currently our trailer is stored at our old house in Englewood.

However, the old house went up for sale yesterday and we've already had 4 showings, with another two scheduled for today (if anyone's looking for a house in Englewood shoot me a PM and I'll send the info to you ;) )

At this rate, we're thinking we may have it sold by the end of next week (at least we hope so.) Obviously, unless it's a cash buy (which seems unlikely) we're still looking at 30 - 45 days minimum until closing, but nevertheless, we have to consider that by the end of March we may not have a place to store the trailer so I need to get on it and find someone to put a gate in our current fence as soon as I can.

There is a fence now, actually a pretty nice one, but we'll need at least a 10' wide gate to get the trailer in. If the gate could match the fence, that would be nice but it's not a 100% requirement. I want it to look nice, and I don't feel competent to do it myself. Any recommendations? This is in the Columbine area, near Pierce and Coal Mine.

Better check with the HOA to see what gates are permitted., before installing. Even if it's a match for the existing fence, that may have been grandfathered in.

The HOA is actually pretty toothless here. For one thing, it's a "voluntary" HOA which pretty much means all they can do is enforce existing covenants, they really don't have the resources to micro manage the residents. I read through the covenants and there's nothing in there about gate styles, I think the only requirement is that the fence has to be a solid one (i.e. no chain link.)

I have a buddy that had a really nice gate put in at his house in Littleton. Steel tubing 4x4 uprights, welded adjustable hinge pins, etc. I think the gate was 1x square tubing and covered in wood. Very solid construction for a residential gate IMHO. No idea what it cost.

If you like, I can reach out and find out who he used.

I'm a cheap SOB. I got cattle gates from Murdoch's and cobbled together a frame to attach and covered it with the same pickets used on the fence.

My father in law does them. He has a guy do the steel frame for larger gates and he adds the pickets to match the current fence. I live about a mile from you, pierce and ken caryl and he's over at my house all the time, so it would be easy for him to stop by and take a look. Plus he knows all the rules for the area since he's helped me with a few things, including adding a gate. If you're interested pm me. He's in mexico until friday but when he gets back ill make sure he is taking jobs. There are a few others on the board that need some work done too so ill make sure to ask him right when he gets back.

Try Pioneer Fence--they're in Sedalia, but work anywhere in metro Denver.

Just wanted to bump this up to the top again to say "thanks" to Drift_G35. His FIL finished the gate yesterday and it looks great! Very strong and well built, too.

Also discovered that he went to HS with my wife and married a gal who grew up across the street from my wife and her first husband. Small world!

I'll post pics later, it turned out very nice and yesterday when we got back from a camping trip it was great to be able to put the camper away at our new house.

You almost have to look twice to see that it is a gate!

Nice, heavy frame should last for years.
