I want to get a SOCOM profile upper. Why? Because America, that's why. [AR15]
With that out of the way... I've got two options laid before me. Please help me decide which is a better value and swing my mind one way or the other.
Option 1
Colt 16" SOCOM upper. "Gently used, under 500 shots taken" with a KAC rail, FN BCG (I think?), mil-spec charging handle. Seller is asking $650 shipped.
Pros: It's a Colt.
Cons: Non-free float rail, not the most modern tech. To add a free float rail I would need cut down the FSB, remove and replace barrel nut, etc.
Option 2
Radical Firearms 16" 5.56 SOCOM Complete Upper - with 12" FTR. On sale at PA for $450 after S&H.
Pros: Comes complete with 12" free float rail already installed. Brand new. Warranty.
Cons: Not a Colt. No BCG or CH (but I have spares at home already).
I'm leaning towards the Colt. Thoughts? Any specific questions I should ask the seller of the used Colt?
