338 Edge parent case is a 300 RUM necked up

I built one 2 weeks ago off of a defiance action 27 in Brux 1/10 trigger Calvin Elite Mcree chassis

I did a load development today 91, 92, 93 grains Retumbo Berger 300 OTM FEDERAL LR match primers

rifle shoots amazing 1/3 moa! Dam Chrony didn't pick up one shot.

Anyone else a Edge fan?

Pretty neat cartridge. What are the ballistics like with those bigger projectiles?

Sweet. We should take it down to Raton and do some ELR shooting.

I'm game. 4000 lb of energy at 600 yds. I'm zeroed at 500. So plenty of room for range

I also have a 408 cheytac that shoots 1 moa out to at least 1.5 miles. That's as far as I've gone so far.

338 can is in the future

My intro to long-long range was a 338 Edge. I put together a budget rifle using a pawn shop Savage 7mm, a McGowan pre chambered/pre threaded 1-10 barrel and an unfinished stock from Stockade Stocks. Ordered RCBS dies and a 300 RUM headspace gauge . Rifle shot great and I could safely get 3000 fps with 250gr. and 2800 fps with 300gr. SMKs. Retumbo and H1000 both worked well. I traded off the Edge and now own a 338 Lapua but I wish I would have kept the Edge.

Edge is fun but hard to argue a Lapua. I would like to have both sticks

I’m not sure the 338 Norma mag is in the running with the Edge it’s closer to the Lapua. I’m having a hard time finding brass for the edge. I’m really wishing I had made this a Lapua instead

Let me add I love the cartridge it is a rocking performer but Remington no longer is making brass for sale so your stuck paying $2 a piece of brass and only get two shots out of the brass. That is why I wish I went Lapua

Spent some time outside of Laramie this weekend banging steel out to a mile. Good thing the wind was holding for most part dialing 20 right at 800 with the edge was pretty darn amazing. I thought my kestrel was lying to me. Was able to get the edge out to about 1200 before it started to fall apart. Shooting in a snow storm actually ended up getting great trace once storm stopped and bullet flight was amazing to watch. Trace made it look like bullets where impacting sideways from the wind pushing them around. We even managed to get they 408 cheytac running for a few rounds before a Yeti broke it. Took about 3 shots for a mile hit on opscor steel target

So I just found this outfit that is making Edge brass as well as the RUM full line up. They are called ADG, I’m gonna give them a shot. I purchased 100 pieces today. Let’s hope we have another great brass maker hitting the market.
