I'm wanting to get your guys opinion on guns shows and apparel. I was wondering if it would be worthy of selling a pro American / 2nd Amendment style shirts at these shows? I have 4-5 different designs I would take. What are your thoughts? Are these shows saturated with shirts? I haven't been to a show in about a year and can't remember if I saw shirt vendors there or not?

Seems like I see one booth selling shirts at the Denver tanner always. I don't remember seeing one very often at the Loveland tanner shows. And the PE show in Loveland seems like they always have one guy selling shirts. Cheyenne and lairmie shows I have never seen anyone selling shirts

Hell you would probably do better selling them here or a Facebook page

Doing the Facebook page approach. Hit or miss. Seems like people's walls are getting flooded with shirt offers.
I'll look into selling here too. Thanks for the suggestions.

This.

I admit I don't fully understand the economics of Tanner. You buy a booth and then count on people to pay $8 just to look at your booth. Maybe they buy, maybe they don't.

I used to be able to pay that in good faith knowing all the good vendors were consistently there (the target guy, the USGI tools/supply guy, the mag guys, etc...). But that wasn't the case last time I went.

If the door fees were lower I would go a lot more. Probably bring people with me too because it is fun to walk around, look, and talk to folks.

How many people would you guess goes through the show here in Denver in a weekend?

It's not how may pay to get in. It's how many actually spend anything once inside.

I hear ya, I may just have to try it once and see if it is worth the $85 table fee.

I say this, and not to be an ass, but (1) i don't go to tanner (or any other) gun shows; and, (2) i don't wear any shirts advertising any belief.

Of course, many do. But many don't. And, it's funny--you see these shirts at gun stores and they're $25 or $30--no, thanks

"Jerry" is the big t-shirt guy there. Dude with big guns right near the entry/hall if you hook a left and keep walking then jog a little right where the aisles split.

Look for the over-priced ammo, lots and lots of T-shirts, disassembled MRE's, and bumper stickers all at the same set of tables.

Good luck.

Exactly.

Say your profit is $5/shirt. You have to sell 17 of them to break even. Does that make sense? Increase prices and sell less as people look at the door charge with the premium to buy there.

I love my Magpul shirts. Wear the Stupid Should Hurt one out around town all the time.

If you print your own designs, don't count labor, profit is closer to $17.50 for a $20 shirt.

I am there for the guns, sadly there are less and less mixed in with the roasted nuts, man purses, "collectable" militaria, cheap knock off tools, jewelry, safes, tee-shirt salesman, and earplug makers.

Will you makes some sales, almost certainly if they are appealing enough it would be hard make any informed estimate without giving it a shot.

Totally agree. Last time I went it felt more like a swap meet.

And there's nothing wrong with that except the table/entry fees are too high for a swap meet.

$17 a shirt and you have to sell five to break even. That could be 2 hours of work just to pay for your table.

BTW, I don't understand this with other vendors/sellers either.

You could talk to the other t-shirt guys at the show and ask if they want to share a table and split the cost. I see a lot of that with some of the "collector" tables where it's clear they don't have a physical shop. I'm sure Tanner hates it.

That's a great idea. I think we'll go to the next show and check it out. I like your idea.

You might even try splitting a table with someone else you know or is interested in trying a table that has other items to offer. My dad will often split tables with his friend when in town so they can each try and sell what they have to offer and save a little cash on the table fee. That might entice some others to come look if there is a gun/ammo/tac gear/etc to draw their attention where they would normally walk right past a shirt table.
