Sorry OP about your issue. Graves I think he mainly wants us to catch the POS so he mess him up. The thread you posted is for stolen firearms only, not inquiries on how to mess people up.

Anyone who's been a victim of burglary can understand your anger. The law enforcement and justice system has made it easy for thieves to succeed and to repeat their crimes. Personally, I think breaking and entering should be a hanging offense. The violation of ones home has enduring impact on a person's sense of security. I'm always armed when I return home, prepared for an unexpected encounter. Securing your home and belongings is about the only defense a citizen has. Cameras in and around your property do aid in identifying trespassers and recovering property.

Read this article on the clearance rate for burglary:

How so?

By understaffing law enforcement, failing to build adequate prison space, and by releasing repeat offenders.

releasing repeat offenders.

Allowing plea bargaining, FAILING to actually look at reports from prison guards and others in the system when a convict is up for parole, failing to detain flight risk (Illegals) for one.

Outside detaining illegals , each of the things i added to Hummers reply have resulted in the deaths of family members. There also 2 cases i know of first hand, where plea bargaining put sociopaths back on the street, where they committed a violent crime no longer than 90 days after release.
The parole system, the judicial system in general has failed society. In an effort to relieve over crowding, give the appearance the system is not racist etc. We've kicked out who knows how many that had no business being released.

From Gitmo to Chicago there are cases where the release of said prisoners has resulted in violent crimes to a return of terrorist attacks.

Sounds like your issue is with the those who hold the purse strings, not law enforcement.

Kind of what I was thinking.

"We plenty of staff, no need to hire more" said no agency ever!

Unfortunately the street cop gets flak from both sides. Part of that i lay blame on the last administration and it's DOJ henchmen.

LE has (in larger cities) become a political tool of the left. Encouraging leftist ideology , the same crap CA has instituted. NYC has fallen in to the same cesspool of touchy feely shit also.

I'm not suggesting the OP feels exactly this way, however what I run into often as I'm sure you often did on the street was people get upset when we take a report and do nothing else. But don't understand there is little or absolutely no evidence to follow. While I do suggest putting cameras outside your home along with lighting which is supposed to deter criminals. Sometimes all we have is a picture of a bad guy and no information about him. But people seem to get upset when I ask about serial numbers, which the OP clearly had with him to provide to law enforcement. Most people don't. Lots of property crimes are connected through serial numbers. One of my favorites is the harassment issue. Generally a he said/she said argument with no witnesses or digital footprint and people get upset because the "police do nothing.' Probable cause can never be explained to a victim but a person in handcuffs is generally very well versed on the topic.

Mainly a comment for everyone else and have to agree that law enforcement is the thing that's lacking (except for maybe manpower and other resources) versus other portions of the system that failed.

... and by releasing repeat offenders.

1000x this. The guy that stole $60,000 in property from me was picked up driving my truck with meth, LOTS of other people's stolen property and stolen guns. The Adams city DA personally told me a story that the fishsack escaped from holding and he had to tackle him in the field while coming back from his lunch break. Dirtbag was a repeat offender, skipped court dates, stole and property damage from many others when he took my stuff. They threw the book at him alright... 30 days and probation. Yep that's right.

Doesn't seem like it's too much of a risk to be a thief these days. Just keep on trying until you don't get caught. You and I can only hope that system works in our favor too if we ever run afoul. I wouldn't count on it.

That dirt ball had already pawned off most of my stuff to his fences when they caught him. I spent 6 months tracking every single thing down (most with damages) just out of principle. Some stuff. showed up on craigslist a few months later. Others were recovered by peeking over fences of addresses of known associates listed in my police report. Typical comment from the cops to retrieve something was "we know about this guy but we can't file any charges."

Bunch of crap. WTF. Not only all that but the forking DA tackles him escaping out on a field and lets him go.

Exactly, there was no effort what so ever ! Gated community, guard cameras at the entrance license plate tracking, and then my video, nothing they never checked on anything?? My video showed shadows but no definitive ID . I hope whoever stole my gun doesn't use it for something Heynis . My thought behind it is they should lose their hands if they steal or if I catch them lose their life!! But Johnny was such a good boy he would never do anything like that, right ?

When the subject of what kind of force should be allowed against thieves, someone usually says "It's just stuff, its not worth a life". I simply reply "Exactly. Make it not worth the risk and it'll stop.". They usually give me a blank stare. The only thing that stops people is the potential consequences. Is the juice worth the squeeze.

Low priority. Most think because we have insurance anything stolen will be covered and replaced. But OMG if you defend your property being stolen....

My friend had his car stolen many, many times. It had low jack and was always recovered. Once it was recovered from INSIDE someone's garage. Guy at the house said, "duhhh, I don't know who's car that is." Nothing ever happened.

When I was jumped in a Denver parking garage, the event was captured on camera, and the vehicle that they all jumped into to drive away in had the license plate captured. The detective told me, "I called the owner of the vehicle, but they didn't want to come down to the station to talk." Well no shit huh? That was the last I ever heard. I get that the police can't make people talk, and while I don't know how everything works, and I'm sure there is much more to the story, it is instances like those that make people feel like the police don't do anything and there is no risk to being a criminal.

If it were a TV show the perp would have been caught within 40 minutes of committing the crime. I saw it happen, more than once!

I leave my gun in the car, sometimes i forget it's there. That happens. What did happen is you left a rather large amount of stuff that caught someone's eye.

Now you need to put a LARGE REWARD sign at the entrance of the "gated" community. Offering LARGE CASH REWARD for info with SOLID LEADS . Set up a new email account so no one harasses you down the road.

Wager the same low lifes who robbed your car would rat each other out for a few hundred.
